Living in Minnesota........Loving the 450h, but RWD?

We own the RX450H and love the winter driving of the AWD.

So, I would love to get the Hybrid but am worried it is a RWD. And snowbirds drive a RWD lexus and have any input for me?

Thanks,

Will

I'm in NY and I've had no problems whatsoever. Just make sure you get good winter tires.

There's going to be an AWD version of GS350 in NA.

Looks like OP wants the 450h though.

Yes, I saw the GS350AWD. I like the Hybrid. LOVE the bamboo steering wheel and interior wood and really like the milage.

Just concerned with Minnesota winter nights. BUT, I do think a good set of snow tires and conservative driving will get me through.

And if it is REALLY bad.........we have the RX450h.

Hehe just go with the GS350 AWD :D

If I were to choose:
GS350 (RWD F-sport or AWD regular) > GS 450h

though I can't deny that the GS450h has more power and is slightly faster (than GS350/GS250) as well as more economical (?).

But nothing beats having an AWD system.

I you were in this dilemma, I'd suggest you go for the GS350 AWD ;)

Hope that helps :)

Add me to this AWD wish for the 450h.
I'll probably get the regular 450h in a couple years, but my dream 4GS would be a 450h F-Sport AWD...but Santa doesn't seem to like me.

I drive a GS400 north of Calgary. You need the best snow tires you can buy and you need to live with the limitations. Which also means enjoy the hell out of your car in the summer!
Around here I've noticed virtually all newer luxury/sport sedans are AWD whether its Lexus, BMW, Benz, Infiniti. I don't think the dealers even stock RWD models of many of these cars.

Am in MN as well. I use to drive my IS-F during winter with Blizzaks but it was a challenge specially during days when the roads were slick due to ice and black ice. I have since put in storage and I now drive a 4x4. So I vote GS 350 AWD or hope the h with awd will be another variant.

Echo the comments, would love the fuel economy, and extra horsepower, but RWD in Northwest Jersey, don't think so. Hope Lexus offers AWD in the GS450h!

for MN , AWD is a must! dont risk it with RWD and snow tires.

Put proper winter tires on and be cautious/careful and you can safely drive almost anything in winter. I had a 335i through three winters a few years ago, and now the GSh.

This is true but the weight of the battery helps I think, I had no problems in the winter with the 3GS I wouldn't be worried about the 4GS its a great car.
