Impressive, amazing fuel economy for such a heavy car with almost 340 horses that gets to 60 in less than 6 seconds.

I like the spec sheet, now looking forward to real world numbers + full tests

As a standard for comparison, the details on the new E400 Hybrid came out today:

302 hp V6 + 27hp electric motor = 329 total system horsepower and 24 city / 31 highway / 27 combined

Compare this to 338hp, 29 city / 34 highway / 31 combined and the GS is better by 5MPG city, 3MPG highway and 4 MPG combined. Pretty nice numbers!

Active Hybrid 5 pricing was also just announced at $61,845, but there are still no MPG estimates.

Sure makes the GS Hybrid look good, but does the E400 Hybrid store its Li-ion battery in the engine bay like the S400 Hybrid? If so, that's one advantage to the E400 Hybrid.

Sounds like heat would be a serious problem there. Tesla by comparison puts their battery in the Model S on the floorboard--wide, flat, and low, helping in the handling of the car. Since they do all-electric, however, there's no engine heat to worry about. Lexus hides the battery somewhere; our RX400h is virtually indistinguishable from the RX350 with the same body style, except for some cosmetic tweaks and a dashboard difference.

Now that I've had my GS450h for just under a week and about 2/3 of a tank of gas, I'm averaging 33 mpg. I'm doing a good bit of highway driving in Eco mode with cruise control, but part of that stretch has a speed limit of 75 mph.

I'm beating the predictions, with a preliminary mileage so far of about 35-36 mpg. That's good for an economy car, but absolutely spectacular for a beast with this kind of power.

I have a Liquid Platinum GS 450h with Luxury package, remote starter, black interior. I drove from Saratoga Springs NY back home to Pittsburgh almost 540 today. Averaged 38.1 miles per gallon. Used cruise control set at 72 mph for most of the trip. I have had the car since June 6th. It's incredible. I would post pics but I don't know how to post using my iPad.
