Guys and girls,

I would be grateful for any words of wisdoms - i have scoured the internet for an answer or even some rationale explanation into why my car is not working. I own a GS450h 2006 model - I cannot open the car as the FOB key is not working also the car is making a knocking sound from the front grill, which is strange as the car is powered down. I have replaced the battery on the FOB key and I have tried both keys. Furthermore, I have not tried to open the car manually as it is late here in the UK and I will do it in the morning - as I do not know how to switch the alarm off.

I would be sincerely grateful for any thoughts or advice.

Well does the car start and if not when you push the start button is that when the clicking sound occurs, if so than that sounds like the alternator thats my guess, correct me if im wrong guys.

Hello thanks for your reply. Yes, I got into the car but there are no signs of life - completely dead, wont start up, no signs of any electrics. The knocking sound has gone. I did get into the car manually and was expecting the alarm to go off but it never. Maybe the battery is dead.

No sign of life sounds like a dead battery. But it could also be something else. A simple test you could do yourself would be to change the battery and see if you continue to experience issues. If not, then it was the battery. If a fresh battery dies and you continue to encounter issues, then obviously it is something other than the battery and should be serviced immediately.

I really think it could be the battery or the alternator. What year GS 450h is this? The battery sounds more plausable, bring it to a shop to check the charge.

That really is a monumentally drained battery issue, by tge sounds of it.
How long had the car sat since last driven?
If it was only a day or two, then I'd be preparing myself for a new altenator, and you may as well change the battery even if the car started as quickly as normal.
