Default Just because

Last weekend I was walking through a parking lot when a very quite black shadow went by, then parked in front of me. So I had to shoot a couple of shots and meet the owner/driver. It was a Tesla. He was in a hurry and couldn't talk much but I got the impression it was probably the only one in Atlanta. After he bought it he had it shipped here from CA. Gets about 240 miles on a charge so long trips are out of the question unless you have time to spare and make frequent stops at camp grounds.

Im a fan of Tesla and their battery technology, but the size of the company severely limits their design limits and reliability. The outer shell of the Tesla Roadster is just a Lotus, and the interior looks really bad.

However, I cant wait for the Tesla S

You forgot the other part of the story, Jim. He was looking at the 450h for his wife.

Yea thanks Anita, I forgot that. Turned out he did ask a bunch of questions about the 450h, he was interested in that for his wife. But he didn't have time to look it over close or I'd have put a sales job on him

RXSF, the outer shell is entirely carbon fiber and Lotus built x number of chassis for them. They are running out so no further orders will be taken when they are gone. If everything stays on schedule the 'S' model should come out around the middle of next year and actually be built/assembled in CA at the Toyota plant. And they are scheduled to build the electric power plant for the all-electric RAV4.

I was watching a "my car is better than yours" Type of show on the Speed Channel and the Tesla had an electronic sound generator that made the sounds of an exotic engine matching the throttle of the Tesla. Giving it a synthetic engine roar. I wondered if that was an option or a third party device.

My Segway makes only natural gear mesh sounds. But has an electronic generator to make an electric engine sound while still and a start-up sound.

I'm excited about the Tesla sedan coming out next year (for some people) and 2013 for everyone (hopefully). If only I had the $80K to buy one. It absolutely looks beautiful. The only thing I worry about (and I may be wrong about this) but where would you take the car if you had a problem? I know that Tesla here in Miami has a showroom in a small warehouse type strip mall. Didn't look like much was going on there. My husband is getting his Nissan Leaf Dec. 2, 2011. I know it only goes 100 miles on a charge, but we can handle that if it means we don't have to pay OPEC.

According to Tesla, normal service is contracted to your door. You pay for transportation and items not covered under warranty. But their website doesn't list a whole lot of things to do unless it breaks.
