Default Whine on accel with low (purple) battery charge.
Any other GSh peeps notice a whine when accelerating under low battery. I'm not talking about punching it or the normal sound of the Electric motor... Just normal accel from a light.

Just wondering if something engages under low charge that would make this sound?

not sure what you mean, are you talking about when the car is on battery power and your driving or when youe braking!

I think your speaking about the battery pushing the car forward, but maybe a video will help.

No, that's not it either. Its a higher pitch "whine" than what the elec motors have. I'll drain the battery again and see if I can get a video tonight.

Are all the pumps electric? I know the AC is... I see a drive pulley, but haven't really gotten down and dirty in that motor to see what else is what.

No not all but for maybe most of them it is electric, I think only one is not electric. I cant say for sure since I also have not gotten down and dirty with my GSh.

sorry can't say i've drained the traction battery all the way down to zero. came close, maybe down to last one or two bars, but that's it. if i ever get that drained, i'll be sure to be on look out for extra whine noise...

When I heard it, it was at 1-2 bars (purple)

Okay, its too quiet for me to get a good recording. But it seems to only happen in the cold at first start up. I'm thinking its the PS pump. Fluid gets a little hard to push while its cold.

GS450h has electric steering. No power steering pump or fluid.

Did to find out the source of the sound??
