Jim, what are doing? Pushing your 450h

The winter has been especially cold by me with trips barely long enough to warm up the engine. Only warmer weather will help. I did change my route a little - less lights and stop signs, longer stretches of driving. Still have the hills though Time will tell. But I think you win this time

Already a thread on that topic (sort of) over in the IS forum:

umm, my past consumption screen only has 1 bar (like Jim's most right data point in light blue) and it never changes...

Occasionally you have to reset it if you want to see a graph. You can see the months I reset mine.

Here's a graph of my past year for the naysayers.
Jim, in your case what does the 48.7 represent? The graph seems to be running about 30, which for me would be great, if not impossible. It was 21 degrees F lately and I've been running about 26mpg.

People talk about using battery leaving stop signs. IMPOSSIBLE for me. If I just take my foot off the brake and not touch the accelerator, I'm on battery. No speed above a creep, but on battery. That's begging to be rear ended. Touch the accelerator, just touch it, and on comes the ICE.

The 48.7 represents one day when I filled up and drove home (about 4 miles) mostly on the battery. There wasn't any traffic and the speed limit once I turned of the state hwy (only about a mile on it) was 35 or less. I just got up to 40 and eased my foot slowly off the gas until the ICE turned off. From there it was just a couple of stops and mostly slight downhill grades to the house.

Yes, the overall average is around 29.5 to 31. You can see a slight drop in the colder winter months.

I'm thinking if I keep the graph going and change it every month or so, it'll mean something when I decide to sell (Watson) down the road. The bars just get thinner as you start a new period.

Don't fret. Engine still breaking in. You'll see steady improvement after 5000+ miles. After 7500 mi, I'm averaging 30.5 MPG (and that's in NON-ECO mode!).

I'm about to break 1k miles and average is holding pretty steady around 24mpg. Hoping for an improvement as the weather warms up and the engine breaks in, but even at 24mpg it's a big upgrade from the 16.7mpg I used to get in my '00 RX300!

Same here with the hills, RXSF. I won't complain about the mileage because at least it starts with a 2 instead of a 1

Default First Tank of Gas 2011 450h

Just filled up for the first time and got 26.7 MPG. I drove it like a little old lady, so I was hoping for a little better gas mileage. I see the forum comments stating that after the break in period of 5000-7000 miles that I should be able to get closer to 30 MPG if driving habits are hybrid like. Florida, hot here, flat land, so also based on comments, this too should help me achieve better mileage.

I can see that hybrid car owners will benefit by becoming better drivers. Although, other drivers seem to be in a hurry and don't want to wait for us to get up to speed. Honk, Honk.

This my first Lexus. My last car was a Kia Sorrento which averaged around 15 MPG. So the 450h fuel economy will be welcomed, but at 47,000, its really not an economical decision. I told my wife, that I don't mind paying more than I should, but I would not buy another vehicle that did not have at least a city rating of 30 MPG. So now we now owe more on our car than we do on our home. My wife is happy, I guess that what counts.

Welcome aboard rande10700!!

You will become an ole pro very quickly just read the hints others have posted on how to get you average up much better than that. I have not reset my overall average since I took delivery of my RX and it is sitting on 32.5. I do the speed limits and don't jack rabbit start and have learned to coast where I can to take better use of charging the batteries. I find this to be fun and love the way it has changed my driving skills. Currently I averaging 34.5 mpg with the warmer weather.

Cruiter or whoever knows

I have cleared my past history bars before and yet it still only shows one bar and there is no date under it. The best section has nothing. I checked setup and see know where to enter the date. The calander on the info screen has the correct date. Don't know what I'm missing.

^^ same for me. I have not cleared anything, but still, that graph was designed incorrectly. It says that the best MPG so far is 19.7 and that number does not change
