whats your mpg on RX450h?

No, I don't play soccer!
Gas prices are getting ridiculous. I'm lucky though NJ has some of the lowest prices around. V-Power cost me $3.19/gallon on Monday.
For the cold weather folks, have you turned off eco mode yet? I decided to do it tonight so I could get a little more heat. Temps have been in the 20s-30s the past few days. I'll take the hit on gas mileage to keep the toes toasty

After the 1st 2 months of ownership and 1200 miles, my 450h averages 27 MPG on the highway, and 23 MPG in-town. The in-town are short trips of < 10 miles and temps from 30-45 degrees, and not in ECO mode. Assume MPG will pick up after break-in, and will try ECO mode setting when it warms up in the Spring.

I just did a return trip of 500 kms each way. With only 1450 kms on my RX 450h, I'm averaging 10.5 L/100 kms. I consider this quite good considering the below freezing temperatures.

22.4 mpg is pretty good for the RX in sub freezing temperatures I think especially since my RX is so new. How many miles or kms. until the engine is considered broken in, any idea?

I'm running 26+ in 20F weather. Started playing with the EV mode when speeds allow -- very easy to kick into regular run mode. But it does stretch MPG. Not sure that I really saw a burn in during the first 5K miles, but I went from warm to cool weather during that time.

Over the past year I've played a little too much with the 'available' power of both gas and electric power plants and my mileage over the last 4 months is down to 28.8 mpg. I have discovered short trips under 5 miles (especially when it's cold) or murder on good mileage but even when it's cold if my trips or 10 miles or longer and I watch my acceleration I can still get around 30 mpg.
You can get exceptional mileage right out of the box but not if your trips are primarily short ones or you accelerate to hard. One thing that did supprise me was slow stop and go on the expressway when you're able to keep the 'ICE' off for long periods gives phenomenal mileage where as a conventional gas only car gives awful mileage.

hills, cold, short trips and even the highway are not biased towards hybrid driving.

Folks if there were ration cards and we all drove that way, our (h) models would never be under 30mpg.

I wish I could drive that way! However (at least with my car), after stopping for a red light, accelerating to 45+ mph takes forever if I try to keep the tach in the "green zone" (with folks honking and glaring at me as they change lanes to pass). When I have a chance, I'll find a back country road, and measure my 0-45 MPH times when keeping the car at it's max green limit in ECO mode. Might be an interesting comparison for some of us! After 6,000 mi, I'm averaging 25.5-27 mpg (75/25 city/hwy driving).

I have 19,000 and change on my 2010 RX450h now and some of my best mileage was in the 1st few thousand when I drove with an extra light foot. In fact most of my 1st few tanks averaged 30 or better mpg.
