Storage of Manuals for RX450h?
I picked up my new 2010 450h.(Black on black with the Ultra Premium package and most of the other bells and whistles the dealer tries to sell to us gullible Canadians.) Last week, while the vehicle was being readied for delivery, I borrowed the 680 page Owner's Manual, the 70 page Reader's Digest version and the 400 page Navigation manual to read before I drove the vehicle off the lot so I would not kill someone before I used up my first tank of gas. Even though I have had 8 years of university, I still had trouble understanding parts of the material, and it does not help that several of the page cross-references are incorrect.
Where does one store the fancy leather case with the manuals? It is too big for the glove box and door pockets. I feel I should be purchasing a trailer to haul the stuff in. Any suggestions?
This is my first Lexus after 13 Audis over the past 28 years and the jury is still out.

my lexus salesman warned that car thieves can break into your car and steal the manuals, and therefore advised not to store the car manuals in the car (ie: they are expensive to replace). just keep them in your drawer or cabinet at home for safe keeping.
if you insist in on keeping your manuals inside your car, the most logical place to put them is on the side of the rear trunk. i believe the leather case has velco strips that sticks to the side and holds it in place?

Thank you for your advice. I understand that the manuals cost about C$550
to replace. This is my first Lexus and I am still getting used to its quirks and features, so I need something relatively handy in the vehicle to turn to. Perhaps I will keep just the 70 page abridged version in the car and keep the two major manuals at home as you suggested. I will look for a place to use the Velcro strips on the leather case in the rear compartment. Many thanks for your comments.

No, I don't play soccer!
Good one Hal56!
I put mine in the cavernous center console. I removed the box inside and slid it forward. The box can be replaced without a problem. I found out about it in the manual itself.

Mine fits on top of the shelf in the glove compartment. Perhaps Canadian version is thicker. If so, I lsuggest removing some of the items you won't likely be needing while on a trip (like the lemon law document - I certainly hope you won't need that while traveling).

We don't have a lemon law in Ontario (or any other Canadian jurisdiction to the best of my knowledge). Thus no material for the glovebox on that issue. What we do have here is a rebate of up to $2,000 of provincial sales tax on Hybrids that my dealer forgot to tell me about when I bought my RX 450h last week. Fortunately, I found out about it myself and have now filed the forms for the rebate. Obviously, I am not very happy with the dealer.

Here's an idea that worked for me. I added heavy duty velcro to the back of the folio case and attached it to the felt in the rear compartment next to where I keep the first aid kit. Since the manuals are so heavy I was afraid the velcro would not hold so I reinforced using a little bungee cord and two clips I used to use on my cubicle partition back when I worked in the office. It works great. They are concealed by the tonneau cover and handy when I need them.
