Default Battery Life

I'm taking a look at purchasing a used GS450, but need some info regarding the battery. I gather that the life of the battery is around 80,000 kilometers - what happens after that? Does Lexus replace for free and for how long will they do that for?
Next question is, I am not a frequent driver, 6000 km's (3,750 miles) in a heavy year. The car can be sitting there for a week without use. Does this affect the battery in any way?

definitely no problem to traction battery if your GS450h sits for a week or longer. in fact, we had record snow fall this past winter, and my GS was parked in the garage for over two months. no problems at all.

canadian hybrid components are covered for 8 yrs or 160,000 KM, whichever occurs first. see the canadian warranty link below:

http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience...1KSC&year=2010

and i wouldn't worry about the traction battery dying prematurely. lots of hybrid priuses that are over 8 yrs old running around with original traction battery. you would probably get a new car before the battery dies out on you.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Hopefully i'll be the proud owner of one soon...it's been the object of my desires for the longest time. But it's slim pickings where i'm from, Toronto Ontario.

yes, absolutely difficult to pick up a used hybrid GS. you would have better luck getting your hands on a new one.

one option you may want to consider: import a used GS450h from the US. with the dollar close to par now, it makes importing a US vehicle a bit more doable. good luck.
