Default Ordering 2009 GS450h. Question:

I am in the process of ordering a 2009 GS450h. I expect delivery in October or November. I am negotiating price with my salesman now. What discount can I expect off of MSRP? Give me some numbers and negotiating points. Thanks in advance.

The fully Loaded '08 GS450h invoices for about $53K.. You should be aiming for a price as close to that as possible.. I haven't purchased one so I really don't know how close others have gotten.. Anyone below invoice? (I doubt it).

Do you really think I can get that much off on a special order? My dealer doesn't budge much off MSRP early in the model year.

For me personally I seriously would not pay a penny more than $55.5k for that car. First off, it really doesn't cost the dealer anything to special order a car.. Second, the 450h comes fully loaded so why special order? Just look for the color you want and wait until that one comes in.. especially if they want to charge you more for a special order car.. Third, the GS450h gets less fuel economy on the HWY than a GS350 (I just paid $46k for a fully loaded one - EPA 19/27).. Even the GS460 gets at least 25 MPGs highway... If you are buying it as your contribution to a greener planet I completely understand!! Just don't overpay for it because you won't make up the difference in gas savings.

not even CA dealers are willing to discount on special order vehicles, i really don't think you'll get much, if any

Actually, GS450hs do come in a few variations now, one w/nav and no run-flats, one with nav, ML, Lexus Link, and run-flats. And then fully loaded. for my option with Nav, ML, run-flats, Lexus Link, Park Assist and spoiler... at Marin Lexus in the Bay Area sticker was 60,4XXX. With no special order I got 55,700. with LoJack, iPod integration and that stupid Shadow Mark vehicle Id. But it was the only one made to the way I wanted in CA so there really wasn't all that much space for negotiating.

And even better my fuel economy has been no less than 27 MPG that includes taking people by surprise at stoplights... I get 30.1 MPG on the freeway at 80+.

This car is awesome!!

No, I don't know anything you don't. Its just that I will get EXACTLY the options and color I want, rather than having to settle for the vehicles that make their way to the dealership. I don't expect any important changes from 2008 to 2009 model. I have a 2007 LS460 to keep me company until the GS450h comes in, so I don't have any problem waiting. Thanks for your responses.
