Modifications on RX400h

Hi, I'm new on ClubLexus. I just wanted to know if anybody had made any modifications of any kind to the 400h. :uh:

I made some small modification on 400h. I changed the DRL, because I don't really like the yellowish halogen light color. I'm also thinking about changing my fog lights to match the HIDs.

As for big modifications, I'm not too sure yet, but I've seen on the 330/350 RX forums there are these pretty nice body kits that I considered using.

Has anybody made any big or small modifications?

In no particular order...

1. Protective Screen for Navi Display Screen.

2. Clear Protective Film for Front End including door mirrors.

3. Front Driver and Front Passenger Window Tint (for that OEM matc.

4. OEM mudguards at all 4 corners.

5. 255-55-18 All Season Good Year ResponsEdge Tires.

6. Hybrid DVD Disc.

7. HID 50 WATTS 4300K HID bulbs and Ballasts for Fog/Driving Lights.

8. 4300K Silverstar Sylvania Halogen Bulbs for High Beams.

9. Thermotec 2" Exhaust Wrap for Exhaust pipes front to back.

10. Additional sound deadening in the rear cargo area beneath the floor covering (eliminating rear cabin noise).

11. Complete OEM look Cargo lingers for Front, Rear, and Cargo Area.

Cheers,

Madlor

That's pretty good! Thnx! How did you reduced the rear cabin noise?

MadloR 11-10-07 10:00 AM

Basically I was getting a vibrating noise, much in the same way as the vibrating noise you get in those "heavily Bass modified sound system on wheels". It was annoying.

I lined the bottom portion of the panels that cover access to the storage bins in the cargo area, as well as the panel that covers access to the tools, with the male portion found on "hook and loop tape" aka Velcro. Don't use to much, otherwise if you press on the release mechanism the door panel will stay closed and won't auto pop open. Also, there are two modules or electronic housings found under the tool tray. I placed some additional bubble wrap in between this aluminum modules and the plastic molded tool tray bin. This additional damper alleviates the tiny sound or 2nd harmonics that seems to be generated by the aluminim modules.

Cheers...

P.S. I should of taken pictures. :(

Thnx! I will try it out!

Yes please take some photos. That sounds alike a quick and easy fix.

Speaking of sound deadening, does anybody else find the cabin noise quite loud and annoying, particularly at highway speeds?

My last car was a Chrysler Intrepid, and the cabin was amazingly quiet so I wouldn't have to crank up the music on the highway to hear it properly.

the left side, 50 WATT HID 4300K, the right side Halogen 55WATT bulbs

As you can See, I have eliminated the driving lights from the equation to give you a better idea (no influence from the factory HID Low Beams).

hey MadloR, that looks good, what kind of light bulb did u use for your foglights?

Booyah 11-10-07 11:10 PM

Yes what Kit did you get for your Fogs?

Also do you run with your Figs on all the time--do you get any flashes becuase those hids look very bright?

Here is a pic for the kit...

It is a standard kit, that works with the factory type halogen bulb requirement known as an H11.

I have no issues with blinding oncoming drivers, and the reason for this is the nature of the driving/fog lamp, it is a projector style housing. This design is more incline to work with a retrofit kit with an HID type bulb. The "extra" amount of light produced by the HID bulb is more than capable of harnessing this light and accurately projecting it in the intended manner designed by the projector Driving / Fog light.

This particular modification works 100% there are no compromises or drawbacks, in that, the HID kit works in perfect harmony with the projector lamp as well as the demands placed on the electrical system.

Cheers,

MadloR

Great! Thanks MadloR! :D :D Thanks for providing good pix!! :p :p Next thing I'm thinking about doing is adding vais tech on the 400h. Has anybody by any chance heard about the vais tech SL2Vi news? When is it coming out? Has all the vehicles been tested on? :uh: :uh:

why not turbo the beast? 2" exhaust wrap isn't going to help anything, anyone experiment with an air filter or a chip? electronic supercharger?

The exhaust wrap was not intended to boost performance. I came across this back when I owned a heavily modified 1994 mr2 turbo. I needed some exhaust wrap for some shielding and in the end, also noticed enhanced dampening.

The left over wrap, I then used on my 2001 JEEP GCL w/ 4.7L and was AMAZED how much more quiet it had become. Hence, I wrapped the exhaust on the RX 400h and liked the additional noise dampening as well as reducing resonates under the vehicle. :D

MadloR
