we had our 2006 400h for a month and have been getting 29 avg with windows down driving everywhere, and about 25/26 when air conditioner is needed. however, i've realized that our engine actually kicks on after about 5 seconds so i think it needs the ISC reboot. i'm doing that tomorrow as we just changed the battery. i hope that adds more mpg. we'll see

I can't believe that many of you are getting over 25mpg? This has to be RX400h owners. I just picked up my RX a couple weeks ago. The 2 tanks that i've monitored are as such:
91 oct - 23 mpg
87 oct - 23 mpg
Mostly highway in New England...though I can say I think I drive less aggressively than the previous owner as the overall mpg from the computer is going up.

Oh yeah...if you are a RX330 owner and are getting over 25mpg...tell me how!!!

You realize that this is the 2nd gen hybrid RX (i.e RX 400h) subforum, right? Just under the banner at the top of the page you can see what subforum you're in. For this thread:

Dont worry man I got the RX 450H 2013 for about 20 days now.. and is not worth it to spend 10, 000 dls more just because Hybrid... you picked the right one.. I love the suv and has 295 horse power instead of 270 but is not that much difference and the price... difference is a lot..so good choice.. I will not pick the hybrid next time.

I've tried testing AC vs. No-AC and 87 versus 91 octane... no matter what I try I'm still getting 19-21 mgp's on my 2006 RX 400h I got my car used 2 months ago with only 38,000 miles on it at time of purchase. I've put over 5,000 miles on it. I keep track of my mpg's with GasBuddy. I put new tires on the car after getting it (all 4) and I just recently had an oil change as well. I also had the ICS battery reset procedure done at the Lexus dealership last month. Still no changes in fuel efficiency.

I love the car but can't figure out how you are all getting 23-25+ mgp's... I'd really like to know the secret to consistent high mileage!

When going 42 mph or below, try to stay within the dash part on the left gauge. That should help out a lot.

A lot of your mileage is going to depend on what kind of driving you do as well. If you live in a very hilly area or are stuck in a lot of stop and go traffic it will negatively affect your mileage. There was also a fairly significant mileage hit for me if it was cold (32 deg or below) or hot (over 90 degrees).

My commute is pretty easy and I can handily beat the EPA city rating in most cars I've owned, but my RX I was never able to get 26 real MPG consistently. The MPG calculations seemed to always be 1-2 MPG optimistic in my car.

Good Luck.

Jeff
