Hybrid TechnologyUnique topics related to the 2010 - 2015 RX450H model hybrid drivetrain and other features/options found only on the RX450H. Please use the main forum for discussion about shared components with other third generation RX models.
My 2013 RX450h has reached 100K miles, and it's suggested/recommended to replace the serpentine belt. Typically, the serpentine belt, the water pump, the thermostat, and pully (if needed), can all be replaced at the same time. But, the water pump replacement is typically at 120K miles, or when it leaks or makes noise.
I am wondering if I just do the serpetine belt replacement now, per recommendation, and would like do to it myself. I've maintained my RX450h pretty much by myself, all liquid changes, brakes, etc.
But, the serpentine belt replacement would be my first time ever. I've seen a lot of videos on the RX350 on YouTube. But there is NONE for the RX450h.
I follow all items [except ecvt fluid and engine oil] based on the warranty and service booklet .. check you glove compartment ... thinnest manual.
I would not try to overdo specially when replacing the v belt is very basic. Had it been involved then you should combine.
Found the below article on RX350 and RX450h serpentine belt replacements. There are PLENTY of YouTube videos on the RX350 but litterally none for the RX450h.
That's the thing about car manufacturers. They want you to buy a new car every five years or making sure that your car does not pass 100K miles. I can't imagine the belt's material that would last a lifetime. This is the same with oil change that car manufacturers have made sure people to change every 10K miles instead of every 5K miles, and guess what, that kills the engine slowly.

100k miles is nothing. Never heard of these belts breaking ever on this RX model, many members are well over 100k miles and there are literally few million of RXs all over the world.

When it comes to car maintenance, your neighbor's car(s) are not the same as yours, driving habits, etc. :-) The OP exists because of the recommended change at 100K miles. I did a quick search and found the below. I would raise my eyebrows at 60K miles. Consider the work is easy and the OEM belt is $27 at local Lexus dealer. Sounds like a good thing to do.
"For a 2013 RX450h, a serpentine belt replacement is generally recommended around 60,000 to 100,000 miles, though it should be visually inspected for cracking, chunking, or fraying at each service interval, as these signs of wear indicate a needed replacement sooner. Listen for any squealing noises from the engine, as this can signal a slipping or worn belt. "
Changing the serpentine belt on the RX450h should be very easy.
It only runs between the crank pulley, the water pump, and the tensioner pulley.
Maintenance item because onlynothing lasts forever. The OEM is a Bando belt, at Amazon for under $10
Here's a diagram:
@Riickk -- Thank you! I checked on Amazon for the Bando belt, and it's $12.99. Great price!
You posted diagram above shows turning the tensioner pulley COUNTER-clocker wise, which looks like the closing position after putting the new belt in. I think the tensioner pulley is LEFT-hand threaded. So, turning the pulley CLOCKWISE to losen the belt and also to reveal the hole where I can put in the 5mm hex in to put the pulley open to put the new belt in.

I just replaced the belt today (155K miles).
It took longer than I thought due to the limited tool I have on hand. My cheap Harbor Freight serpentine belt tool didn't work well.
The original belt is still in good condition. Sine the new part is not expensive and I just like working on my cars.
