Is it possible to install aftermarket headunit in these cars?

Was wondering if this is possible or if anyone has done this before.

Not possible. It is all integrated into the vehicle HVAC system, and other vehicle control systems. There is no way you could insert anything else into that instrument panel.
Maybe you could change out the speakers which may improve the sound. I would consult the www.crutchfield.com web site for such information as they sell everything and have determined what fits most vehicles.
However so few of our vehicle were sold, there is not much known about it for aftermarket and they may not have any knowledge.

I believe the only way you could ever install an aftermarket unit is if you have one without a navigation system.

Has this ever been confirmed?

There are a variety of new Android products that replace the HS250h display unit, for sale recently on aliexpress.

So, I am not sure if the existing information about the Grom is still relevant.

EDIT: sorry, my reply was so sloppy. I guess it was in another thread, discussion of the Grom VLite device which purportedly overlays CarPlay and Android Auto onto your stock system.

I think your options are:
1. Grom VLite. (which adds a feature but does not replace your headunit) Check with them and see what the limitations are.
2. One of these dodgy Android things from Aliexpress. Doesn't replace your stereo but replaces your screen. Here's an example of a really cheap specimen: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005790583854.html

I do not agree that "it is impossible". The ventilation system integration is just a few CANBUS commands. Admittedly, not simple, but I can't see any reason it would be impossible.

You ask whether they will work -- but what exactly are they supposed to do? It says the decoders will only work with specific products.

Of the three cable ends I see there, one of them (Toyota 90980-12444) is found on my JDM radio receiver (model 100063 by Fujitsu Ten, Toyota 86120-75271) but not on a North America radio receiver without navigation that I have (model P1855 by Pioneer, Toyota 86120-75060).

The next cable end with 2x14 terminals - I do not see a corresponding socket on either of my radio receivers.

The blue cable is a JAE MX38 type connector that carries the GVIF (multi-channel digital video) signal to the video display. You will have one socket on the radio receiver and one on the display.

pac audio offers a variety of adapters that will allow you to integrate your factory head unit with aftermarket amplifiers and speakers. Link below to hs250h specific products.

you can replace the radio, but it will need to find someone to build a custom dash and also involving relocating and disassemble OEM radio ( the car need to see the working OEM radio without triggering " check hybrid system"

Takes time and patients to do the custom dash with bondo, sanding and last vinyl wrapped ( might have to redo cause the corner start to peel off . Installing the radio was not bad, just time consuming. have to cut modified all the plastic behind the radio for room. I think if you guys using mechless radio ( no cd/shallow ) might not have to do mod behind the dash. Untapped the radio harness and relocate to glove box. take apart the radio and mounted top off glove box ( have to relocate SOS battery that above the glove box to the side ( enough wire and still used the same brackets ). I used Maestro SW for steering wheel control. I used relay so I can still use the OEM radio functions. First I keep the OEM audio amplifier, just run pre out from pioneer to aux on OEM radio for a while until I upgrade the speakers and 5 channel amplifier for aftermarket subwoofer. Hopefully this help .... thanks
