My 2010 has never gotten the gas milage 35mpg as stated in manual
I have had my Lexus 2010 hs250h for almost a year and I love the car. It drives great and hasn't broke down at all. It has 62k miles on it.
The problem is the gas milage. It is suppose to have 34mpg on highway and 35 mpg in city, correct? I have NEVER gotten that kind of milage. In the summer it gets around 25 mpg. In the winter it gets around 20 mpg? I took it to the dealership and they say nothing is wrong with it. What's going on? I almost always drive it in Boston city traffic and rarely take it on the highway. I don't drive it hard, I don't have a lead foot. If anyone has any insight I would be grateful.

Those numbers don't sound right. Check for a sticking brake pad (one brake disk will feel hotter than the others after driving as you hover your hand near it). Or a clogged air intake (I've found a mouse nest in the intake of a previous vehicle). I have no problem getting ~35 mpg in normal driving, even in the fast lane.

Driving a hybrid for maximum mileage is different from a regular car. It involves lots of coasting and slower movements etc. You can study the hybrid hyper mileage technique at the www.Priuschat.com forum or look at this from Gree Car Reports https://www.greencarreports.com/news...-minimize-cost
Also check air filter.
I second checking for a seized caliper. I had a seized caliper slide pin on my car at 60,000 miles. Had to replace the caliper support bracket and pins.

While the 25 and 20 mpg quoted by OP seem off by too much, I've observed somewhat strange mpg behavior also. When I got the car first (used vehicle) I didn't reset anything and just continued driving. The previous owner had got 28 (short term avg) and 32 (long term avg). I got about the same for my first tank. Then I reset everything and boom the numbers improved to 35 (only 32ish when calculated manually). My 3rd tank I noticed to my surprise the mpg got reset by itself. I had to take a 100mile freeway/highway trip and to my amazement this trip (which is totally different driving from my usual stopngo) that started with 35mpg on dashboard ended with 39mpg on dashboard. After this trip I ran a couple errands that always only generate 32ish but now that the car already showed 39, it miraculously stayed there.
So it seems to me that the mpg you get is almost dependent on history. If you break out of a funk into decent driving mpg, the car seems to try and keep it there. I can't see why the dozens of times I've got 28-32 on a route suddenly yields better mpg.
Try resetting everything, fill up the tank, and take the car out for a longish spin when there's little traffic. Perhaps the car will try and keep the better mpg.
Edit: Another 150miles of my usual stopngo driving has seen the avg dropping gradually back towards I'm guessing the spec. At 37 now. Probably will go back down...
