Default Latch on trunk of Lexus HS 250h won't lock

Lexus HS250h, 2010. The latch on the trunk won't catch. How can I fix this? I think the spring on the inside has broken. Any suggestion on how to fix this ?

You'll probably replace the lock assembly in the trunk, but if you want to read up:

Lock- #64600-75030
Striker- # 64620-51010

It does look the same. It may or may not work. They are built on different platforms with no common body parts. But an interior part such as this or door locks, window mechanisms are often the same among many different models.
Call a local junkyard with Camrys and maybe they will check the cross reference to the HS250h on their Hollander database.
Or just gamble and buy the $23 part and hope it works. Then let us know if it fits!

What did you end up getting? Mine is broken now. Need to get one. Agree, they do look identical and way cheaper. Please let me know if this Toyota part would work.

Let me answer my own question. The Toyota part is not exactly the same. Attached is the back of the part. As you can see there is a metal hook sticking out (for Toyota) where Lexus is flush. I spent less than 10 minutes using a metal grinder/cutter and went through three rounds to make it even or lower than the rest of the surface in order to install it. The rest: two screws, one connector and a cable all fit very well. So overall took me less than 30 minutes to install it. Ordered it from Amazon $20 vs Lexus would charge over $200. Tested open/close multiple times, very happy with the result.

Default Trunk latch is semi locking half the time Lexus HS250h 2011

I saw your post and i want to do the same thing...i'll need to borrow my dad's metal grinder or go some where to have that filed down for me, maybe a mechanic can do that for me? I'm a lady attempting to do this!
It looks exactly the same, but the black plastic part looks wider then the Toyota one, is everything else the same just this small metal part sticking out? It would save me a good $300+ so maybe worth a shot! I think it's the principal that kills me, just because i drive a Lexus doesn't mean i have to pay SO much extra for similar part / material!

This is the Toyota Part i found on amazon in Canada

Just the metal piece needs to be cut. Everything else will fit. It's been awhile. I may have used the plastic cover came with it, instead of the original cover. The other thing is after it was replaced, apparently it randomly triggered the alarm for couple of days until I disconnected the batter and reconnect it. Then the alarm was fine.

The metal piece has to be cut flush without touching the trunk inside wall. No issues since installed.

I went to the junk yard today and pulled a trunk latch from a 2008 Toyota Camry. It looks exactly like the picture here:

I used a dremel to remove the hook on the back side like "liweill" described above. Installed the modified unit and it works perfectly. Cost me $10. If this one stops working in the future, I will just get the Amazon unit.

For folks who are unclear on what part to remove from the Toyota Part, here is a picture of the Lock Assembly on the HS250H.

My lock assembly broke today in the same manner as the original poster. For folks who have used the Camry Part with the ear grinded off, has this been a successful repair?

It's been almost three months for me now and still works fine. I use my trunk practically everyday.

I just wanted to let everybody know, my trunk latching problem was not the same as everybody else faced in this thread. With my vehicle, the striker plate, mounted in the car, had a fastener that had loosened up most of the way out. With the constant slamming of the trunk the fastener had bent to the point it was no longer straight. Unable attempts to unthread the bolt caused the nutplate bracket to break. Hence, I had to cut the bolt head with my hack sway blade the and removed the nutplate bracket with the striker. No mean task since the bracket seemed to have been bonded to inside the truck flange before the striker was installed. My local dealer said he did not have a catalogue location, but could call Lexus of Japan for guidance. Other nearby dealers did not even a listing for the bracket and suggested I try the salvage yard. With no access for a wrench to install nuts, nor enough space to install I clip nut, I ended up getting very creative. I installed the plastic nut inserts for the license plate screws in the open holes. I then tightened the machine screws that swelled the plastic and very tightly held the striker in position. Not exactly a factory install, but it is hard to do such things without parts.
