Unhappy Lexus HS250h at least 2010 or Ford Fusion Electric

Hey everyone,

I've always wanted an electric car but ended up getting a lexus. Poor baby got into an accident and has been deemed a total loss. I'm fighting my case right now, who's fault blah blah. But I believe I'll win since I had the right of way. Anyways, they're going to give me 19,xxx--what can you buy with that, right? I'll probable end up getting a loan of 5-10k.

I know you're all lexus lovers (I am too), but what do you think with my budget? I def. want to buy used. I need to do my research because I know the ford fusion 2014 is electric but not sure about the 2013.

The Fusion Hybrid is nice and it was around in '13. It's system is based on the Lexus Hybrid drive as it will run on battery alone, unlike the Honda system which is more an assist system.

The fusion will run up to (I think) 47 mph on battery alone as compared to the Lexus at 41, but the Ford is no where near as nicely built, or as luxurious, or as refined, or as trouble free as any Lexus including the hybrids. Fords are nice, but not that nice.

Your money is yours.

Let me add that having evaluated the Fusion Hybrid, I can also note that it's a slug when you step on the peddle.

Also keep in mind reliability, especially if looking used. Fords in general are worse than average according to Consumer Reports surveys, and the Fusion hybrid is rated "not recommended" by consumer reports due to too many problems. Lexus is the top rated brand for reliability in those same surveys. Though, Fords are cheaper to repair than Lexus, so maybe you'll spend the same on repairs either way. But the Fusion will be in the shop more often.
