When I picked my car up last week, the tech guy who was schooling me on all the features of my car before turning me loose on the world explained I could upload music from a USB drive into the car's system, remove the USB drive, and play the music without having to plug the USB drive in. Was he yanking my chain? I know you can do this on some 09 and up BMWs but I don't see any instructions for this in my manual, on this site, or any options for this when I plug the drive into the plug. ???

 

As far as I know, you can't upload music into the car.
You can plug a mini USB drive into the port and leave it there, but not feed it into the internal HD of the car. (if it has one, only the NAV based cars have HDs)
