Default Rear-ended hs250h

HELP!!

Okay so I was driving my dad's car (2010 Lexus HS250H) and there was a guy making a left turn in front of me so I had to slow down. As he was making the left turn, a 90's Dodge Caravan rear-ended my car. We stopped on the side and exchanged information. Now what do I do? I know it will be an expensive repair since this model is discontinued but the whole rear bumper will be need to be replaced. Do I go to lexus and get a quote and contact the guy? And also approximately how much would it cost to get a new bumper and get it replaced?

thanks

Our 2010 HS250h experienced minor damage to the rear bumper cover and the other driver's insurence company paid $1,010 for a new cover, labor and paintwork. The work was done by a Ford affililated collision shop with a good reputation. We are completely satisfied with the results since it looks like it never happened. Did you exchange insurance info and file a claim with the guy's insurance company? If they accept responsibility for the repair, they will give you some choices for estimates and repair. If you feel strongly about having a Lexus dealer do the repairs, that can usually be approved.

I am planning on taking it to my Lexus dealer. I called the cops and filed a case. Yes, exchanged insurance information but didn't file a claim yet because he said he might be paying from his pocket and doesn't want to use his insurance company. The guy was going around 5-6km/h and rammed into the back my car. I mean it's not a big damage but it would be impossible to buff it out since the black part on the rear is bent and almost falling off and the left side of the bumper is pushed into the car and it has a lot of dents on it. So it will need to be replaced. Also did it show up on your CarFX report? I really want to avoid the value of my car dropping. Is there a way to prevent it?

Always report it to your insurance. The other guy could be lying, a flake, bankrupt, etc. It's your insurance company's job to go after such people and gray areas, not you.
Also, how would a carfax on the HS effect the value of your IS? Two different cars. I'm assuming you have an IS and that's why you posted here?

Lexziss, I don't know if my repair work shows up on Carfax or not. Call whoever you think will be fixing yours and ask them.

Unless you're selling your car in the near future, don't worry so much about a carfax report. Also take detailed photos of the damage (of course before the repair) so if you do decide to sell your vehicle, you can clearly show it was a minor accident. Otherwise, I'm thinking you want to lie to a new buyer by hiding the accident. Accidents happen, so just deal with it in an honest way.

I'd certainly report it to your insurance company and contact his insurance company even if he decides not to use them to repair your car. Did you call 911 to report the accident? In some states it's a requirement to do so if there is property damage. It's too late now if you did not, but I would always have the police respond to take a report at the scene of the accident just in case.

Once again, ask your insurance company what they would recommend doing.

Everything went smooth. Guy paid around $1800 out of his pocket to the Lexus dealer to get the bumper replaced and painted.
