HS250H Extended Warranty Option
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a used 2010 HS250 (with 20K miles on it). The dealership warranty expires in Aug. and everything else is good for a few more years (batteries till 2017). The extended warranty would cover an additional 8 years for 3k. My question.. is it worth it?
Edit:
My friend said that I should because a major problem with the hybrids are the batteries. He said my car has 7 batteries and they each costed a grand each to replace so the extended warranty would be worth it. BUT, my mom has had her GX470 for over 10 years with no problems (except the infamous cracked dashboard).

I think extended warranties are like playing the lottery. I say if it make you feel better....... go for it.
I was actually looking at the one that Costco offers. Haven't bit yet, though.
I really do not think that the batteries are a major issue with the hybrids. Maybe the new ones with the Kia or the Hyundai. But not with the Toyota's. If that was the case, you'd hear the Prius people sound off about it.

Remember, whatever price they are selling that warranty (aka insurance) at, they are not only paying to fix/replace cars, they are also paying for sales staff, admin staff, advertising, and making a tidy profit.
Just like in Vegas... sometimes you pull the handle and it comes up 7-7-7... payoff! But in the end, the house always wins.
