Could be dealers are giving big discounts on the HS to get the model out of inventory.
I see 29 available in a 50 miles radius from my zip code on Autotrader..

Somebody at Lexus needs a course in product planning and distribution - when I bought 2 years ago, there were no base models in my state - only Premiums. And most of those were pretty loaded (except for ML and LEDs). I was actually more interested in the base model with their 17" wheels, but had to "settle" for a premium. Now it looks like nothing but base models left?

My dealer had today on the lot:

3 HS's. Two were base with no Nav. One was Premium with LED headlights. All were 2012's.

4 CT's. One was base. One was loaded. 2 were F Sport.

1 RX 450h. Loaded

1 LFA. Base price $380,000. Wow.

1 IS F Sport. Hot.

1 LS. No hybrids.

3 or more 2013 GS's. At least one was F Sport. Wow.

I just could NOT get a premium, loaded, in SW Florida. No matter what! I placed an order in 2011, and was told two months later by the sales manager at my SW Florida dealership that the Lexus SE Regional Manager CHANGED my order to reflect a standard model and not a premium. I think they are just using up and inventory of parts, but I have no way of knowing for sure.

I personally see no reason at all to buy a base model - it is just another car to me - but each to his own. I love my premium models (I now have two of them).

Default Be careful if you want that Sonata...

I looked at most of those before I decided on the HS. One that is missing is the Sonata Hybrid. I wonder about that one. I've seen only one on the road so far.

It was nice, but the L-Ion batteries worried me, and it just didn't have that level of luxury the Lexus had. It felt kind of "cold" and " Cheap Plastic" feeling to me.
I test drove the Sonata and it was not at all what I had hoped for. I had a Sonata hybrid on order and even had put a down payment on it, but when it came in, the interior looked very bad to me, and the car did not drive well. It pulled to the left (a problem that is now supposed to be fixed), and it felt badly under-powered, due not to the power I think, but rather to the way the transmission is set up and geared. I think that I would consider the Optima from Kia instead of the Sonata version, but I have not driven the Optima - I just think it looks nice, and has more features than the Sonata. I also think that choosing a car is very personal, and each to his own.
