Default Maintenance Ripoff?

I'm going for my 8000km (5000 mile) scheduled maintenance soon and the quote I got from 2 dealers is that it should cost approximately $150 (maintenance takes about an hour, labour is $128/h plus a few dollars environmental fee plus tax). How much did other people's 5000mile/8000km ("Oil and Filter Service") maintenance cost? This seems pretty absurd considering it's really a glorified oil change with a few visual inspections, and lubrications. The guy told me this is the "cheapest" maintenance possible for the HS. My Acura TSX has the exact same inspections plus an additional inspection of tire pressure/tread and it costs $70 total.

Our 1000 mile and 5000 mile services were complimentary.

I know its free. Just had it done. If you go to Lexus Enform and pull up the PDF on the Service Schedule its there.
Oil Change is at 10,000. Is it different where you are?

The price of the oil change should already include the labor. Call around but don't mention what the previous dealers have told you.....otherwise they'll agree and figure that you're willing to pay that.

5000 and 10000 services were free at my dealer (NC). I thought that was universal for Lexus but maybe not. I just did my 15k service, which did not include oil/filter, and that was $80 out the door. They told me the 20k would be about $160 - seems a little high, but I'm not sure what else they do for a 20k beyond the tire rotation, inspection, fluid topoffs, and oil/filter. At least I'll get a good wash/vacuum, some snacks, and a nice place to work away from the office for a bit.

Default All free for 3 years

When I bought my car there was a special deal but I had to fiance my car for .09% which came to $79.00 for 3 years total, they send me a monthly statement and I pay twice the amount just to pay it off. I had the option to pay if off after 3 months and keep the deal but why for that price. This gave me FREE service bumper to bumper and life time free oil and car wash. I get the car washed once a week when I am driving by. You can go in side and get free coffee and snacks also. I asked the other day if they received any 2011 yet and what changes? None because of tragedy but only 2 changes I was told. A sticker and logo .
Still love my HS250!

Thumbs down

So so sad. Just came back from 10,000mile/16,000km service. Cost: $430 including tax.
I did notice my 10,000 mile service in Canada is different than the US. Main difference is they test/check the battery and it is not free.
Next service is a simply oil change and that'll cost me $150. Talk to the service rep and apparently, this $430 maintenance is the cheapest maintenance (besides the simple oil change). I've been warned, the 20,000mile/32,000km maintenance is about $510+tax and environmental fees (so maybe just under $600 total). Apparently, the 60,000mile/96,000km maintenance is the big and expensive one (according to him, they rarely ever get any vehicles with more than that mileage in for service but because of the hybrid system, it's imperative that hybrid owners get them serviced....). If $600 isn't the most expensive, I'm really scared about what is....
This is seriously deterring me from purchasing a Lexus in general or even Toyota hybrid ever again....

Wow. What is really sad is that was a $430 oil change.

Stay away from the 'stealer' and have the oil change done somewhere else if you can do it yourself. Just save the receipts and by law this can not void your warranty.

According to the schedule, the 60,000 is an oil change, air filter, cabin air filter, smart key battery, and brake fluid change. Maybe $100 in parts.

that sounds like a ripoff, or the Canadian dollar must be junk :-) I had my 20,000 mile service done a few months ago for about $165 US.

I contacted Lexus Canada and I've been told that:
"The maintenance information found in your Owner's Manual and Owner's Manual Supplement represents the minimum required servicing on your vehicle....If the minimum requirements are followed, your warranty coverage will not be affected; however, we do strongly recommend following the advice and servicing of Lexus certified and trained technicians at our dealerships to avoid any inconsistencies with your warranty coverage."

Ok, doesn't that pretty much sound like a threat to me that my warranty may be void if I don't have things done and done by Lexus dealership of trained professionals?
The other problem is, of the 4 dealerships near me, 3 of them are owned by the same ownership group and have the exact same servicing costs. The other dealership is the furthest away and at the same time, the cost was almost exactly the same as the other 3 (very marginal difference). *sigh*
