Default Toyota working on a ‘brother’ for the Lexus HS 250h

"According to the latest reports from Japan’s Best Car Magazine, it appears that Toyota is currently working on a ‘brother’ for the Lexus HS 250h which is scheduled to debut in January.

The new car will have the same platform as the HS 250h, but regarding the design our sources confirm the new bumpers will be added as well as new headlights which will follow the same design line from the Prius. Regarding the technical part we don’t have any details yet, but we expect the new car to carry a 2.4-liter petrol engine as well as an electric motor. More details to be revealed."

It's not clear to me based on this article if this new "brother" is going to be a Toyota or a Lexus. If it's a Toyota, it will be a really bad move, since it will only make the HS look even more like a Toyota (Corolla) and not like a luxury car...

Perhaps it's an HS250h Wagon?

Then people will call it the Lexus Matrix...

Just throw the 2.4 in the Prius and call it the Prius sport

I think the HS is one of those cars that will look better as a hatchback or wagon instead of a sedan.

Can someone photoshop that?

I just wish they'd make something just a little unconventional looking...

BTW - is the article referring to a new Lexus or a new Toyota?

They found a left-over grill from a Ford Fusion and strapped it on the front of the Corolla...

I'd prefer a HS-T or whatever they'd call it, to a Toyota Sai equivalent, which is what some magazines call it. But then again, Toyota probably sees the huge success the HS has been in Japan thus far. However, for brand image that might not be the same thing...although some of the HS styling elements are more Toyota-esque than L-finesse.

^^^

It sorta does work.

If you shorten the car a bit to get rid of that rear overhang, it can look quite sporty...

I think the front and rear fascias of the HS could benefit from styling adjustments, moreso if a Toyota sibling is produced...differentiation being the name of the game.

I find it odd the HS won't be sold in Europe when it has a very high hoodline for "pedestrian safety".... Maybe Avensis tooling influence?

An HS wagon would be cool. IMO it makes perfect sense.

Lexus should build the HS wagon. It would be the very first Lexus hybrid wagon...
