Got our HS last week
 

We got our HS last week. We're getting about 39mpg after about 110 miles of combined city/hwy driving.

Starfire Pearl (white) with Beige/Black 2-tone interior

There seemed to be plenty of inventory in N. Cal for the HS. We had quite a few to choose from. Back in fall '99, when we were trying to buy our '00 RX300, the waiting list was too long and the price was too high locally. We ended buying our RX in So Cal from Longo Lexus and had it trucked to us here in N Cal. Interestingly, this time around, So Cal pricing and availability weren't better than we could get locally. It seems that people are indeed right that HS is selling extremely well in So Cal.

I picked up my HS250H last week. I had ordered one about 4 weeks prior, but the dealer erred on the paperwork and what arrived was wrong. I found almost what I wanted at a more distant dealer (wrong interior) and went with it because I didn't want to wait another 4-6 weeks. Now, I'm actually glad, since I've changed my mind and think this was the right choice anyway.

Smokey Mica Granite with black leather interior and walnut trim. Nav and advanced tech package.

I'd post a picture, but we have construction on the roads around my house and it already needs a bath. (sigh)

Our HS finally arrived this past weekend. Due to holiday traveling we did not get to pick it up until Monday. So far we have been very pleased. We are only averaging 30mpg but have less than 100 miles on the car. I am sure that it not a fair assessment. Truth is we have not had a real chance to play with all the bells and whistles on the car but are looking forward to it this weekend.

I took a few quick pictures but thanks to the monsoon like weather here it is already dirty. The color is Obsidian “black” with the premium package and 18in alloys. The only options we are missing is the radar cruise, the heads up, and the box that monitors the driver. None of these were that important to my wife and I. Other than that she’s loaded out.

I tried the LKA last night, and it beeped once. (Oops. :egads:)

I haven't been on the freeway yet, so I haven't used the Radar Cruise. I went away for a week 3 days after picking it up, and only have 80 miles on it. But the other day somebody stopped me in the parking lot at work to ask me questions about it, and today I saw some people pointing at me while I was pulling into my garage. The guards in my building were practically catcalling me -- they LOVE the color. You can really see the blue when it's parked in my garage. In the sunlight it looks 2 different shades of silver.

Unlike some of the other posters, I have only seen 2 others driving around LA, and one parked.

Hi folks. New HS250h owner here. Just bought it a few weeks ago and really really like it. I'm coming from a Benz C320 Sport 4matic and while I must admit I prefer the body style on the MB considerably more, I'm in love with the inside of my HS. The outside is kinda ugly (comparatively), but honestly all hybrids are right now. I ended up wrecking my Benz so I had made up my mind my next car would be a hybrid.

Test drove the Fusion, Camry H, Prius and the HS and for me, the HS won with a close second to the Camry. The Fusion just felt cheap inside, the Prius looked like a bubble. The thing that pushed me over the Camry H was the inside of the HS -- which is just stunning with the fit, finish and tech. I found the fuel mileage to be equivalent to the Camry H, so I can't for the life of me understand why the HS is always compared to the Prius. For me, its logical to compare the Camry H to the HS as well as the Fusion. The Prius belongs in the Nissan Leaf and Honda Insight area. I truly believe that if more folks compared the HS to the cars that are similar in shape, size, engine and price they'd find the HS wins hands down.

I look forward to my new adventures with my HS and for those of you on the fence, I would ask you to compare after you test drove all the cars and not just go solely on an article or blog with folks commenting on a product they've never seen.

That is exactly what my wife and I did.

Camry Hybrid - Our second choice. I am a big Toyota fan but was not thrilled with the interior.

Fusion Hybrid - The plastics and controls felt cheaply made. I like the style but the dealership wanted mid upper 30's for a fully loaded Fusion. Why would I pay this when Lexus is just slightly higher?

Prius - I like the newer body style better, but it did not really do it for me. Can't argue the great mileage.

Nissan Altima Hybrid - With 4 Nissan lots within 20 miles of me I was shocked none of them had a hybrid in stock. Not only that but I was told be 2 dealers they rarely had one and they did not sell. Really?


They HS won hands down for us.

But yes Lee, I think more ppl should really test these cars before commenting on them. For me the price of the Fusion and the Camry H fully loaded $31K. My HS was just a bit more and all the gadets were already built in (except for the DVD headsets) and a few more gadgets I didnt think about. The Camry H would have needed to add those after the sale.

Oh and I'll post pics later when I get home. FYI, Matador Red.. love it with the 18" Toyos.

Thanks, I really like my HS the more things I find out about it. The DVD headsets are directly from Lexus and thus falls under their warranty for the rest of the car (4 years). They had to replace the old headrests and order new ones with the DVD s built into them that also matched my interior leather. They're very cool as you can watch shows independently or watch the same show on both headrests (this will require use of the headphones though). They also have an aux port to connect your media player or personal gaming device.

Plus they just look cool huh? When not in use, you can cover them with well, a cover that matches the interior leather.

Must be a dealer accessory, because I haven't seen it at the Lexus website. I'll ask my dealer if they can do something like that. Btw its very nice that they're going to cover it under warranty :thumbup:

Congrats........very nicely done on the DVD set up! Good info to know! I've had mine for almost 2 months and enjoying it. Very comparable to other Lexus' I've owned.

Thanks.. I'm really starting to get used to driving it. First & second tank of gas I was around 31-33mpg, but now I'm averaging around 34-36mpg. :thumbup::thumbup: Love that more than my Benz.

Just got mine this week - Premium with Golden Almond/Parchment, Nav. Liking it even more than I thought I would.

Quick noobie question - is there is no way to get the audio screen to stay on the navi display? I haven't found a way to do that yet, it always switches back to the map or info page. Most of the time I prefer to keep the audio screen up to see song/artist info from XM.

The headrests look great!

I posted these in my "will my car ever arrive" thread, but thought I'd put them here where they probably belong.

I picked up my Mica Grey/Black 2010 HS 250h last night. It was a special order since I couldn't live without the Mark Levinson system -- I'm glad I held out, for the stereo is definitely the best I've ever had in any car. It's got every single option on it (LED headlights, Nav, Keep Lane Assist, etc).

So far (after 12 hours...) I'm pleased. Still trying to learn to navigate the iPod, Satellite, and DVD-A controls. Love the mouse thing, but the user-interface leaves much to be desired -- very unintuitive (but I love figuring things out and this wasn't a surprise).

Very nice! Do you drive it in NYC? Give some thought to getting the wheels chromed and windows tinted! I did that to mine. Photos are on a thread with my psoccer555 name on it!

Thanks! I already tinted the windows Monday and am getting a pinstripe put on probably this Monday coming up. I am thinking of a blue line to match the blue in the Lexus logo and a light gray. As for chromes I'm not sure, Lexus wants to much so I'd have to call this place in Mineola that usually does them for a reasonable price (they order the chromes then take yours back) but since the car is so new I'm not sure if they could get them yet.

I love the light interior w/dark exterior, my SC was like that and got a lot of compliments. Could you do me a favor and take a side picture of your car from a little further away? I want to see how the chromes look from a distance if its not a hassle.

I'd be happy to do the picture on the side view. I can do it asap from my phone. Do you have a personal email or mobile number where I can send it so I don't fumble around with loading it here. I haven't quite mastered that yet without help.

One other thought....I also added a clear bra to the front of my car. I had that done on my RX and IS too and it saves on millions of rock chips.

Lastly, I had the dealership chrome my wheels. It cost me more I'm sure but I got a 5yr warranty from them on the chroming.

I finally pulled the trigger and traded in my Lemon '07 ES350 for a new '10 HS250h. I was going to do a special order and get it fully loaded with the Mark Levinson audio and LED headlights since I really want those features, but a combination of the Memorial Day weekend discounts & 0.9% financing and a lack of patience to wait 5 months for delivery made me buy now. I'm glad I did. Although the stereo is marginal, it's noticeably better than the stock system my ES had, and the far superior quality of this car over my previous piston-slapping rattle box with its herky-jerky transaxle makes the HS a true pleasure to drive. The only thing I really miss about the ES is its stronger acceleration when merging.

I bought a star fire pearl (white) HS with beige interior. Despite the abundance of hard plastic inside, it actually looks very nice IMHO.

Congrats on the choice. I've had mine since the early January and I'm enjoying the ride, comfort and gadgets on it. I've got pix on a different thread so you can check it out. I've had the 04 RX330 and 07 IS250 and my HS has been as enjoyable. The exterior styling and innovative interior, IMO, makes the HS stand out. Enjoy!

Got my self an HS in smoky grey with grey leather and premium package. Was wondering if anyone in the New York area (Brooklyn preferably) has tinted their windows and where. I'd like to get mine tinted but not sure where to go, all the horror stories of bubbles and bad trimming are keeping me from going out and doing it just anywhere.

I like the way that the chrome on the HS accents the starfire color, good choice !

Congrats! I like the beige interior - so much cooler in the summer than the black interior on my last car. The light gray is nice too - had trouble deciding between them.

Oddly, despite all the negative opinions online (myself included) about the car's styling, I get nothing but compliments about how sharp looking this car is. The styling is starting to grow on me too (thank goodness, considering I'll be living with it for awhile).

Agreed - it's different and funky without being "in your face green". But I wouldn't call it sexy.

We finally pulled the trigger and bought a StarFire Pearl HS last night. We got the upgraded version with 18" wheels and navigation. Wonderful car. Glad that we chose this over a Prius. Nothing bad to say about the car at all.

Sold my '08 Accord EX V6 with Navi (it only had 12,000 miles on it) and purchased the HS and got the 1.9% APR up to 60mths. I have just over 2,000 miles on it now and am averaging right at 34-35 mpg from what I can tell 50/50 hwy/urban driving here in Southern Calif. I use a mix of Eco Mode and Regular Mode. Mileage is a little better on Eco Mod. The tech is great and I especially love the size (smaller than the Accord) and it fits great in parking spots and it's whisper quite around the lots.

I get a comment or two every week. I'm one of those who love the look of the car.

Thank you.. It's great to be a part of CL now. I owned the 1st gen IS and came back to Lexus for this great Hybrid. I did purchase mine after the brake software recall in Feb, but before the lastest one. I ended up with an IS250 loaner a couple weeks ago and I couldn't get my HS back soon enough. The gas mileage is great and is one of the many big reasons for getting it.
