Snow performence
I'm looking for any shared experences on chaining up or snow tires, ie. type and the way the truck hanlded the slippery conditions. With the extra weight the GX just mangles cable chains.

I agree, i have vredestein wintertrac extreme's and i had to travel 30 miles at night in the NJ/NY blizzard the day after xmas, slow go becasue of white out conditions but plowed through at least 8 inches of unplowed roads the entire time with not problem.

the gx is a beast in the snow. good tires and go. cable chains are a waste of time, get some quick fit chains made out of, well chain, and reserve them for when you really might get stuck in the deep stuff off pavement or on hills.
also, if you get into fairly loose/deep snow (not on highway plowed) lock your center diff and turn off vsc - this will allow you to have a little more throttle control before the the electronic nannies kick in.
