I think they have basically setup an alternate video source while tapping into the touch screen so this isn't effectively a full swap out like that aftermarket unit in the 470.
I think there must be a button to swap back to stock system
"switch to original system with one-click on dashboard or steering wheel."

I'd give up DVD output if I could get device mirroring... seems unlikely though with system in '10-'13 though.

Android head unit factory replacement
I found this and was wondering if anyone has this installed in their GX460? I’m looking to purchase a GX460 but I’m trying to figure out a great solution to replace the factory screen. I know there’s the beat sonic and Grom systems, but dont like the factory screen’s poor resolution.

I can say I have seen anyone post replacing their stock 460 head unit yet.

I want the 460 since it’s newer, but really considering the 470 e/o navi and doing aftermarket screen. I like the 470 ruggedness because ultimately I’ll convert it to an off-road rig.

Quite a number a 460 owners doing some significant off-road... some here and lots more at GXOR. The big achilles heal of the GX 470 from what I have seen is that 8 inch rear diff. It appears to be the weak link that often breaks if pushed too hard. The 8.2" on the 460 (or any 150 series model) is reportedly a lot more stout. The LX570/LC 200 series 9.x" is for all intended purposes unbreakable from what I hear but the 8.2" on the 460 is still quite strong. If you do go with a 470 seriously consider replacing the rear diff.

Thank you good to know. Looking at 2012 or 13 for preface lift for better off road angles and like the tone down front fascia look and slightly priced lower. Love everything about the 460, but this head unit is really bothering me, I guess I’m a little spoiled from my Tesla’s screen.
