Default traded my GX 460 for an LX

Guys with 3 little kids, the Gx was getting little tight to use everyday, I was not in the market. Went to the dealer for service on the weekend and saw a nice black on black LX, I already have a 18" LX and wife uses the GX we decided to see what kind of deal we can make. Well I got very decent money on the trade on they knocked some $$ off on the Lx. I traded in a the GX-2015 with 38k miles -was a luxury package with drivers assist/ tow package, and picked up and 2015 lx.
We had the GX for about 9 months and put over almost 20 k miles on it. I took it to Florida twice and TX once and was amazed by the suv.. I used to get 21-20 easy on highway. Will miss it.

LX570 > GX460

Sometimes wished we saved our pennies a bit longer and held out for a 200 Series.

Enjoy it!

Congrats on the new LX! Beautiful vehicle.

Random unrelated question - What type of roof racks were on your GX? I just bought my GX last week and not sure the OEM roof racks will work for me. I love how your set up looks!

Not sure about you guys...but GX has better legroom for my kids in 2nd row. GX may not be as wide as LX, but legroom in 2nd row is significantly better. That was kind of a bummer because i was close on buying Land Cruiser.

I have them on classifieds actually on right now, I had the oem racks took a trip to Texas with tule cargo carrier and the feet of the cargo carrier kept hitting the roof on uneven roads.
They are INNO bars, they sit higher than oem and are much more useful.

I absolutely loved the 4runner in my college days, but I couldn't afford one. bought a 2003 after I saved some but I really like the GX too. Its a great SUV not as big as other SUVs and very capable
but yea if you need more space and some more comfort LX is a somewhat better choice especially if you have multiple kids.

we use the 3rd row basically all the time with the 3rd row seats up I would have no space to put anything back. I bought a light stroller and stored it vertically, but any sort of grocery would be a game of Tetris. I know LX isn't perfect but I think its. just little roomier everywhere, part of me wanted a sienna or sequoia but I can't stand the interior. the infinity QX I think comes very close but does not have the long term realibility of the land cruiser

I appreciate the response. Not bad for trade in! I've been shopping for a GX here in SoCal and a car like yours would be $35k+ easily. But the dealer has to make money so...

I totally agree, when I was shopping for this particular one last year, I could not find one for less than 47 it took me about 2 months and I drove 3 hours south to pick this car up, it came in as a trade the day before and I was the first one called and got there. I was looking at low 20k miles and luxury with the driver assist package. The front/side cameras really help plus I love the radar cruise.
They came with 30 as trade showed me auction value and I basically told them you cannot compare this car which has excellent service history / not a scratch anywhere with all the tow and other packages to an auction. They can certify it and sell it without doing a single thing to the car...so it took then few mins and back and forth to reach that number. Plus the car I picked up they knocked 3k off so I thought it was fair.

How's the ride comfort and quietness of the LX compared to the GX. I love how quiet the GX is but the ride can be jarring and jittery at times. I blame the heavy wheel and tire combo on the GX.

to be fair, this is my 4th LX over the years- I currently own 2. 2018, and 2015 which I just picked up. GX has little jittery ride, LX 2018 is little better but those 21" wheels hurt it. The 20" wheels are better with the ride and comfort and in the future I might replace the 21 with 18".
LX because of the wheelbase is much more forgiving and not so jittery. To be honest I like the LX ride much better, its still not as comfy lets say as the RX but much better on long drives especially to passengers.
