So get just new stock bulbs and ballasts? I am useless with wrench, so I will need to have a shop do it.

I went with the osram night breakers(d4s 66440 xnl). so far im happy with them. i also have diode dynamics max fogs

thanks to gxbobs videos, removing the bumper and headlights is not hard just time consuming....removing the ballast however was a pain. do them one at a time and ensure theyre at the same level before starting the other. i ended up reinserting the hid motor wrong causing the beam to point upwards.

Problem solved. Replacing a ballast on a car with AFS requires pulling or loosening the lateral position motor to fish the cable connecting the ballast to the bulb. When I initially put things back together with the new ballast and bulb, I failed to notice that the projector's framework was not engaged with the position motor. The projector had fallen forward so that the focus was way too high. I pulled the housings again and paid careful attention to aligning the projector axis and engage the position motor before tightening everything up. It worked perfectly, everything is excellent and I could not be happier.
