Toyota engineers have already done the FMEA so you, as the driver, do not have to worry about monitoring cold starts and oil condition. If you are the type who wants more data, gauges and dashboard gizmos then buy an airplane.

Op asked about oil consumption on a new motor, learned about oil change intervals, blackstone oil lab tests, oil life monitors, G force loading, buying airplanes.

Gotta love CL!

Gotta love CL!
OP also bemoaned the GX not having the ability to provide distance to next oil change, which it has. Read the manual.

Let's see what Amsoil has to say ...

Back on topic, my GX is getting close to 100,000 miles, and I notice no consumption and I typically run my oil for 10,000 miles. However that doesn't stop me from bringing an extra quart with me on long trips. With a new 2019 and a long trip, I'd probably bring along a sealed quart just in case, though I very much doubt you'll need it.

I do my own changes. Drain & refill with a filter is stated as 8.2qts in the manual. I put in about 8qts every time and about 8qts come out. I have never added oil between changes.

FYI the Lexus maintenance schedule on the GX is a change of oil & filter every 10,000 miles, but the maintenance reminder in the car will come up every 5,000 miles. The first 5k is an "inspection" aka pulling out the dipstick.

Also FWIW, the manual states that normal consumption can be up to 1L per 1,000km, or 1.1qt per 600 miles, which seems terribly excessive. Again, I don't experience this.

amsoil has something to sell?? I wonder what. It’s on tip of my tongue. Maybe jiffy lube can help me.

Again.....NO CAR MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS 1000 mile change. None. Nada. Zero.

Is that how a "certified master mechanic" screws his customer? And you wonder why there is such mistrust of mechanics these days....

Seriously ? What are your credentials ? ... other than the blind belief that auto manufacturers have your interest above their (limited) warranty period interest. Beyond that, they don't care how long your engine lasts. All of your arguments assume that everyone else has a vested interest, but not the manufacturer. Incredibly naive logic (that has no basis in fact).

No facts on my end? Didn't i just post a bunch of them with links to sources a few posts above ?? And yet YOU have provided absolutely zero source about first 1000 mile oil change. Again, given that car dealerships love money, not one single one of them recommend 1000 mile oil change. Not one. Heck, not even Jiffy Lube and they are con artists!! What does that make you?
