I think it is based off the Hilux chassis so sits like a tier between a Highlander and 4Runner if somehow placed in US lineup? Is that a correct assumption?

It's based on the Hilux but I have no idea where that would place it relative to the 4Runner. I'd think they'd compete directly against each other in the lineup.

I have no idea why would anyone switch to the "spindle" grille. It is horrid, specially on the SUVs. Oh, well, that's just my opinion..
