Stock rear bump stop replacement

Acrad 01-11-19 03:57 PM

I'm not running anything on the front right now (bumper, winch, etc) so decided to see what these do on the rear since I tow.

I figure if nothing else might be a good failsafe if I lose a bag at a bad time... and could resell at a discount as version is used on many different Toyota models including the Sequoia

Thanks for posting this. I've got the Timbren's as part of my suspension list and these videos just go to prove the capability of the product.

Looks like they arrived while I was out of town. Might install next weekend with oil change and zerk session. I don't plan to do a lift on mine anytime soon but in case the Budbuilt weigh down the front too much I might put the front ones on. We'll see.... might be unnecessary.

I'm considering a rear set because I tow about once a month. They seem a little pricey for what they are but they have good reviews on the website.

Just an FYI. They come disassembled in the box.

Not seeing any bolt torque specs. I need to look into FSM and also see if Timbren has a recommendation for at least the center bolt.

good stuff, what's the cost ?

Acrad 01-22-19 04:37 PM

Not cheap but they do have a lifetime warranty. I think once I know how real world they work I can say more. Some of this is a personal experiment. Multiple vendors out there so someone may find a cheaper option. Etrailer info below for 10-19

Rears are $214.67 + sales tax if your state has that

This may sound crazy but I’m wondering if these will fix my “slight” lean issue. According to Lexus only 10mm (20mm is out of spec), but once I saw it lean once I can’t unsee it.

Do they always support the axle or are they clear when there is no pressure from a trailer?

Acrad 01-23-19 05:40 AM

I believe front has contact all the time and rear there is some space while level.

Acrad 01-23-19 03:51 PM

Inside the Timbren there is a washer already present. Last night put together and lots of play with a washer that would be ringing all the time as it doesn't tighten down. I sent this video to Timbren and they first claimed not tightened enough and then a few minutes later a support message that it was normal. Saw others post they had to put additional washers in it. Doesn't feel right with the current slop. I suppose one could use a tap and die to force the threads further in as there is room inside the metal assembly at top. As-is won't thread on either one into the hollow space at the top.

sounds like oversight on the engineering, are you gonna stick with it or return it ? at premium price this should be nothing short of perfect fit imo
