Talking I am now the proud owner of a 2014 GX460

Been looking for a GX460 for a good price and options package for a few months now. Today, I bought a 2014 with 96,600 kms (60,000 miles). One owner, no accidents, dealer serviced since new. Drives like a dream. It is the Canadian Premium package with the Luxury trim options (adjustable ride height, DAC, adjustable suspension, etc). No MTS (I don't think I will really need it)

First on the list is to install an OEM remote engine starter for cold weather starting. There was a vendor on Ebay who sold the kit (from Europe, I think), but they no longer have it. I'll see if I can source it elsewhere.

I have posted earlier on the forum seeking advice when purchasing a GX460. Thanks to all who replied and helped me make the decision.

I now have to sell my Diesel Land Cruiser. Too many vehicles! I already listed it for sale.

Really!? .. You're right.. I just checked them and they indeed don't get bigger. The linking from the hosting site to the forum is not correct. Sorry about that.
Let's try this again:

Ive heard that the OEM remote module that you add on wont work from far distances, and when you open the door it shuts off the engine. Good thing is it uses the same key you have now. If thats ok then Ive seen them on ebay, amazon, etc. if you want something else then you will also have another device on the keychain.

OP, congrats on the purchase. I have a '15 with same ext color.

Remote starter- why not get a 2-way remote starter? I have a Compustar unit and the range is awesome, like 1 mile with light of sight. I can use the OEM remote to start it remotely as well as the Compustar remote.

Thanks for the replies and the congrats!
I don't mind the short range of the OEM starter. I usually just start it from my office window (something like 30 ft away). There's a thread going on about the OEM starter now, but I am waiting to find a good place to buy the module from.

Thanks again..

I've used my remote start only once to make sure it works, I find it annoying that it turns the engine off as soon as you open the door from what I recall.

Viper DS4VP works great. Available at Best Buy and other locations. Uses factory fobs (3 presses on lock) or included fob. Also has Bluetooth on smartphone lock unlock and remote start. Short range but expandable to 2 way range limited only by cell signal. For safety reasons it does turn off when you open the door. Quick push of start button restarts and the seats are already warmed up. If i could only get it to turn on the heated steering wheel it would be perfect.

This is definitely a safety feature that prevents your car getting stolen.

It also to make sure that hopefully you HAVE your keyfob with you when you unlock and restart the car again. Otherwise you could drive off without a keyfob and got stuck somewhere when trying to restart again.

I think it's a great feature.

Exactly right. My "other" car is a rear wheel drive charger with flashing red and blue lights on top. I have started it and left without the keyfob.

Congrats. I just bought a '15 Lux with 52K miles. Feels like a new vehicle. I've had lots of lovely cars. There are maybe four that gave me a little thrill every time I get in and start up. This is one of them.
