Default GX 2020 going touchscreen? Wishful thinking/outloud post

With the so-called 2020 being a refresh to "make the interior like its bigger brother LX"
How would they rethink the center console and screen layout?
I assume itd be a toned down center console from the LX with drive modes, remote touch etc?

Where did you get 2022 from? I look forward to a redesign so I can plan on a used 2-3 year old model and time is ticking along with the outdated interior and tech of the GX. 12 years of this is expected

What else to consider? Acura is out of the question so l may have to buy a a newer outdated GX that I was never a fan of. Reliability is my absolute priority so that is why I am here with my GX that has not let me down.

Just subjective general feel of scattered articles on the 6th gen 4R and many state 2021 or 2022

Even this Lexus Enthusiast article from last year already has a number predictions that didn't occur

https://lexusenthusiast.com/forums/t...ugh-2020.3173/

• Didn't happen: "The 2018 model Lexus GX year will receive a refresh (thanks UZJGXR100), with Job #1 set for September 2017.

• Time will tell----> If a next generation GX is approved in a similar configuration, it will not debut until 2020 or 2021, utilizing TNGA-F.

• Not yet -----> TNGA-F for BOF products, will not debut until the 300-Series Land Cruiser is launched in 2018 or 2019, making its way down to other BOF products. I believe this will be last BOF application developed by Toyota, hence why they are stretching out life-cycles (delaying redesigns) and probably giving their best efforts on the platform. A new line of engines are likely being developed, which are expected to debut with TNGA-F.

• I don't think this actually happened ----> "The GX400 will go on sale this year in Japan."

Lexus already has enough SUV line up as of today. I wouldn't be surprised if Lexus discontinue GX460 in US and just keep LX570 in a year or two. We all know its going to be very costly to keep both BoF with how CAFE is going. Even if Lexus decide to keep it for another generation, I bet the engine will be downgraded. Just look at current LC Prado sold in rest of world, which come with 2.7 or 3.5 L v6 engline

If I recall, you should not be cross-posting from other forums, as I recall that being a rule of some sort. If I ever wanted to make a post on this subject on Club Lexus, I would have made it and chose not to, in being inactive here. Second, my source in that regard last year was terribly mistaken over the 150 range updates and hadn't even seen any information outside of the 2018 Prado facelift, that would confirm a GX update, other than the fact it is a close cousin of it.

Plus how in 2004, 2007, 2009, and 2013 both got the same level of improvements lifecycle wise.

Thirdly, the 4Runner debacle was tied into Japanese news sources mistaking the return of the "Hilux" pickup to Japan as the return of the 4Runner-based "Hilux Surf" SUV. All those combined to create a disastrous rumour mill in Spring and Summer 2017.

Trying to use my words against me, when many of you didn't even know much more regarding TNGA-F models and interim updates, is ridiculous. Fourthly, that link from Lexus Enthusiast you posted isn't an article, it was typed by me with no prompting by anyone else on that site and unofficial, as I am not a Toyota representative. The context and nuance regarding discussion on this, is better understood by regulars there.

Lastly, the level of improvements to the GX (also AL20.5 RX) delayed it longer than the 2018 Prado, which has been always the golden child of the 150 platform range consisting of Prado, FJ Cruiser Mk.II, GX 460, and 4Runner. The GX was supposed to be updated this year as a 2019, but will instead will get it next summer for MY2020. That is on the level of the

A GA-F Lexus midsize isn't due until 2022 at earliest and likely 2023. Any change in marketplace, can also render that dead by then.

The first year for TNGA-F will be 2020 itself via the Tundra. And I go by calendar years, not American model years. MY2020 is all unchanged, save for some BOF facelifts. A new LX is 2 years out, so not for 2020. A GA-F Lexus midsize isn't due until 2022 at earliest and likely 2023. Any change in marketplace, can render that dead by then. No GX redesign is coming sooner than 4 years, as anything else will just be an update of the existing J150. Based on newer inside information this year, the 4Runner also gets updated next year and NOT for TNGA-F.

the original post was about the GX being refreshed on the current platform, I never mentioned a new chassis. Going by the refresh, I`d assume they incorporate a new interior layout to support the LX gen enform package and dash appointments

I like it that it hasn't been updated for a long while, which makes my 2010 still not so dated hahaha...
8 or 9 years apart and not much different.

I probably get a new one when is is driven to the ground lol. I kept my last SUV for 18 years so I have a long way to go with this one. The funny thing was while it was being serviced, i got a nx300 and a rx350 as loaner and my wife said while they are nice but the GX feels more luxury and rides much nicer.
