Default New GX Owner Intro and Tire Question

Just got a new to me 2015 Luxury with Driver Support package. Black on Black with 38k miles at a purchase price of $38k. Located in Florida. Not a great deal, but definitely a good deal based on my 2 months of searching.

Coming off a 2016 Mercedes GLE350. My first car was a '96 4Runner Limited which stayed in my family for over 250k miles. Based on that experience, I was very excited to land on the GX. We just had our first kid, so I took my wifes Acura TSX and bought her the GX. I think it will be the perfect vehicle as a luxury daily driver for her, that can still handle towing my 19' boat and the occasional hurricane evacuation.

First off, let me just say thanks to the members of this forum for all the great info. I spent a lot of time lurking and reviewing posts before buying my GX. A special thanks to guys like @Acrad35751, @hzhao, @tecman, @bbqsoup and many others for all the work you guys did figuring out the mods you have posted. For those wondering, here is a list of the mods I'm interested in:
- auto folding mirrors
- smart card key
- lane change auto flasher
- rear door keyless entry
- adding MTS
- soft close doors (hopefully someone takes the leap first)
- upgrade driver support package cameras (I've looked at hzhaos post on adding surround view)

First things first, I need a new set of tires. I am interested in something with very good highway manners, but that can still decently handle light off road (algae covered boat ramps/beach/wet dirt roads/etc.)

I am most interested in Continental TerrainContact A/T and Pirelli Scorpion ATR. Anyone have any experience with these tire or strongly recommend an alternative?

Thanks in advance. I look forward to joining your community. I will post pictures of my rig after I've done something worth showing off.

I agree that this is the best forum community I've been to. Everyone is helpful and really willing to share. I feel like I could just sit down and share a coffee or a beer with any one of you just chat up.

Regarding the tires, I had Scorpion AT before on another truck and I think they are ok - this is the pre ATR. The sidewalls were a little thin and felt soft but they ride quiet and were great in the rain. I think I swapped them out for a different set at around 20K but they still have some thread left.

The Continental TerrainContact A/T has really really good review and they look like the Bridgestone Revo A/T (another great tires). They have a $100 Visa Prepaid card until the end of the month and I think Continental also have 60 days trial as well...so within 60 days you don't like it you may bring it back - probably a long fine prints on this LOL.

I also had the Yokohama Geolandar AT before too, a very quiet tires and really grippy. They wear out a bit fast but that could have due to the mis-alignment on my previous truck - it was running a 3" lift.

+1... this is a great forum.

Congrats on the GX!!

That would be a great deal up here in the PNW being a fully load loaded Luxury with even Driver Support.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up pulling the trigger on the Continentals. $175/tire when you factor in the $100 rebate. I like the look of them and so far, no noticeable noise over the Michelins.

Also bought an OEM hitch off ebay for towing the boat which will get installed next week. Found a local toyo shop that will be my new go to over the dealership.
