Lightbulb #Side #Mirror Problems/Repairs/Questions

Is there a way to disengage the side mirrors from turning downward during the reversing process?

Last weekend, I found it very difficult to see my JetSki trailer while backing down the boat ramp.

And no, the monitor does not help in this situation.

Thanks!

Put the mirror switch in the middle position.

seems counter intuitive but that's what you gotta do.

Yeah, Nissans have the same "feature". Switch in the middle position is the trick. Moving it to either side causes that mirror to angle downward so you can see the curb and your tire while parallel parking. It also lets you see any toys the kids may have left in the driveway before you back out of the garage (that aren't directly behind the vehicle).

The reason the tilt down operates when the switch is in the left/right position is so that you can adjust the mirror in the tilted position. Sometimes you may need to look down further.

If you adjust the mirrors while they are down, would that affect the mirrors when they are not down?

I don't think it does (I will check) but you can always hit the memory setting.

After adjusting the mirrors when tilted down they returned to the original position when put back in drive.

Default side mirror replacement

Does anyone know how to disassemble the side mirror of GX460? I heard that it just clip-on ,but it's hard to take off. Thanks.

Default Mirror signal light lens replacement help needed.

I and my 2011 GX460 are new to the forum. I don't know if I should have asked this in Lighting, Maintenance or here so please forgive if it's the wrong place.

I have a small BB hole in the right mirror signal light lens - the person I bought it from is sending me the part (it may be an assembly) and I should have it tomorrow but I don't know how to go about removing/replacing the lens. Can anyone help?

Welcome Aboard!!

I don't know that it's ever been discussed but hopefully the part will show how the original one is clipped in there. Let us know.

Thanks for both replies - I've looked at it carefully and it doesn't look like an easy job for an amateur. If I could take the mirror out I think it'd be a fairly easy install but I don't see an easy way to get at it. I'll probably take it to a dealer a bite the (cost) bullet.
