Side Mirror Problems/Repairs/Questions

Tecman, did you open that little panel, unplug the switch, replug and photograph it... all for the sake of this thread?
If so, wow.
I'm also a member of the Corvette forum. On that forum members can click a box to thank forum members that have posted particularly helpful material. Even though my GX does not have the above mentioned problems, you'd definitely get a "thanks" from me for that one.

Yes, thanks for the appreciation. I try to show that things are not as difficult as they seem

Side Mirror crashes on wall
I had my driver side mirror hitting the garage wall second time, finally got it damaged. It was lucky first time, just plastic cover popped out, and was easily pushed back into frame. This time, the clear plastic cover of the light/Lens was damaged, need to replace. Nee your help on:
1) What the clear plastic lens/light cover piece is officially called? Please see attached mirror sketch, where I refer to the item #4.
2) Where to buy the part?
I think I can replace it by myself if I have the part
Thanks,
Chris

New Member - Side Mirror Replacement Help 2016 GX
Hello all,
I took delivery of a 2016 GX Premium in Black/Ecru around 4:00pm yesterday. My first drive out in it at about 7:00pm a Dodge Ram 2500 with trailering mirrors wandered to close to me and took out my driver side mirror and left the scene. I've already ordered a replacement power fold mirror with BSM, a color matched cover, and some interior trim removal tools. I also signed up for the Toyota TechInfo Repair Manual system and reviewed the replacement process which involves removing the interior door panel.
I was hoping some of you guys can provide some tips to make this go smoother or any trial and errors you might have learned? Also, does anyone think the mirror and the two wiring assemblies can be accessed and removed/replaced without taking apart the entire door panel?

Sorry to hear this. I have taken the door panels off for speakers. Hope this helps and good luck.

It's pretty simple once you remove the interior door panel, which tecman outlined nicely. The clips that hold the panel on are pretty durable, but if you break or lose one you can get replacements for pretty cheap from the dealer. You may not even need to fully remove it; just enough to get at that plastic triangle that covers the bolts that secure the mirror in place.

Cost to replace driver's side mirror with bsm on 2016 GX?
Someone hit my side mirror and the glass is cracked and fell out of the assembly. The outside of the mirror is scuffed where it was hit, and even though it's a leased vehicle, I'd rather not worry about that part until I have to turn in the lease (maybe it can be buffed out?). It still folds in with the power folding, but the glass is hanging out (wires holding it). What would be the cost to replace the glass only vs the entire assembly? My deductible is high so I'd rather not go that route.
