Lightbulb Heated steering wheel - retrofit?

Has anyone looked into replacing/adding the steering wheel with the heated version? I haven’t poked around the dash area too much, but I’m hoping they may have pre-wired the vehicle. I need to see if there are different steering wheels available (heated vs non heated).

Looks like a difficult and costly mod. When I got a loaner RX I turned this feature on and it is only on the leather of the wheel that is at 10&2 (clock) position... Meh

Don't know about Lexus, At least I know people retrofit for heated steering wheel on Audi Q5.

I had one on my old '02 Maxima GLE and missed it when I got my G35x in '07. Glad to have it in the GX.. if you use your GX in some really cold spots in the winter it is a nice feature to have. Sometimes on cold days... I crank the heater, open the sunroof, crank the seat heaters and turn on the heated steering wheel if needed... oh and crank radio too :-)

Nothing really to add other than it is the singular most important option I have on my car...

I didn’t know how much I like the heated steering wheel until I used it the last few times when temperature dropped to the 30’s in the warm CA mornings. It was awesome! However I wish it has a low setting as it can feel hot.

One of those nice things to have when temps are really low and engine isn't up to heat. Another thing I appreciate are the very quick warming heated seats. My other experiences with Japanese heated seats (Nissan, Infiniti, and Mazda) are slow warming and merely adequate at best when running at full temp.

x2.
I've been really happy with how quickly the seats heat up during this cold spell.
I rarely turn it up much past the second setting.

Our other vehicle has the heated wheel and I must say it really beats the cold wood at times.
One of the few things I miss on this vehicle. That and a simple digital speedo... or hud....

I take it back....I've used the heated steering wheel the last tow days, low temp outside 17 degrees. Really liked it. Still would probably not pay extra for it. Maybe spend the money on gloves.

Isn't the key question, ''is the wiring there if you get a steering wheel of a wrecked GX?''. I've only taken one steering wheel off a car (VW), and it wasn't bad at all. I wouldn't bother disassembling my wheel to fit heaters for $1500+, but a couple hundred from a wrecked one ... why not?

I use my heated steering wheel almost all year long. like everyone says, its a great option to have when its winter and cold outside. I also use it on rainy days to warm up my hands.

So im looking at things, it looks like at the least you will need the steering wheel, the heated wheel controller, a new clock spring, and the button. If I didn't already have the heated steering wheel and I was considering it, I'd probably just first look to see if there is a connector for the button was present. Its pretty easy to find and if that was there then there might be hope that the rest of the wiring would be there as well.

You will need wire harness and switch (which is installed at left side lower dash) for heated steering wheel option. not just simple steering wheel replacement.
