Default What is a Good Price Target?

Looking to utilize the collective wisdom of the forum to help me close a deal on a leftover 2017 GX460 Premium (MSRP $58,759 - Invoice~$55,256). What is a realistic PURCHASE (not lease) price for this vehicle? I see some sites listing $4k incentives on 2017 GXs but this seems like its not enough to warrant the prices some are getting on these vehicles.. Many posts indicate folks are able to get deals about $10-$11K off sticker (or $6.5-$7K below invoice). Many thanks for those who can help me understand how dealers can be selling this far below invoice without bigger incentives than $4K. I would like to go in informed and get a good deal (quickly).

Invoice for the sticker price you listed is in the ~52-53.5 range depending on the exact options. This is the price you should shoot for Before the $4000 incentive. That would get you in the $10k off range for a 2017.

Well it looks like the site I was using for invoice pricing was wrong. Color me embarrassed. However, a big thank you for pointing me in the right direction. One other question, Edmunds lists $2.5K customer loyalty cash for GX. Does anyone know if this is stackable with the $4k customer cash? Thanks again,Michael

Leftover premiums last year right around Q1 end, were runnng 48s. Dont if they`d be motivated to move them down this low, but at this point dealers have to nudge leftovers OTD before Q1 is over

Was offered GX Premium today for $50,500. It had an MSRP of $59,500 (or within a couple hundred of that).

Very tough to not buy it. It wasn't the color I wanted, and my budget for this purchase is in a savings account that takes 3 days to get the cash from.

Wow $48k for GX Premium is almost down to 4Runner price.

the Lexus loyalty cash is for owners who own Lexus vehicles that are included in the airbag recalls. Unfortunately, this loyalty cash only applied to ES and NX, per my dealer.

I believe Toyota’s Fiscal year ends in March which is Q1 for most companies. I wonder if dealers would be more aggressive in February/March as opposed to December.

That is very interesting. The dealer who offered me the 2017 Premium for $50,500, said it was because they had to sell four more cars by close of business on 2-Jan, as that was the end of their year (which sounded bogus, but the price was so good I thought it might be true). After saying no to this deal, and looking more at used ones, it really is ''cheaper'' to buy a new one for $50k than a used one with 40,000 miles for $37k. I really hope they drop below $50k at end of Q1 ...

Buying used on these things is good if your on a budget that cant be stretched any further. The value of money is quite good (not stunning but better then anything that would need repairs shortly). That being said, the Jan2 thing is i believe cause of Decemeber to remember ending that day (so anything sold goes into 17s books).

If you have the capacity to wait, leftovers can be scored for sure. Problem is, if you need a specific combo or option set, the wait and look game is just not going to work. Heck, id be looking at other dealers lots to see whats available, email em and see who budges first with the best offer. 18s are out on lots so moving unsold units is in their best interests (of course thats assuming they are motivated;i have seen dealers who have plenty of leftover stock and just dont give 2 cents).

Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at. I can afford new Base with Premium option for $50,500, but would rather buy a 2 year old one for $35k ... just hard to find one right now (and I don't have a ton of spare time to trawl the internet). I've found a 2014 (assembled in late 2013) with 35k for $37k, but it's Luxury. It does feel wrong to pay save only $13k for a nearly four year old car with 35k on it.

I'd feel much better camping in a $35k car than a $50k car ... I'd like someone else to have put a few scratches in the thing, and for me to save money because of it.

But then if they do a 2017 for $48k .... all bets are off

That's where I was.... could've bought new... not going out of my way to damage but far easier to take off the pavement. :-)
