Lightbulb Factory Alarm

Has anyone installed the Glass Breakage Sensor accessory themselves? Was looking at installing one and was trying to see if this was something the dealer needed to install or if I could install myself. I found the part number online, but have not been able to locate any install instructions. Part number for the GBS is PT39860111

I was hoping this would be something I could easily plug in or do a slight install without needing to get it done at the dealer. I haven't been able to see any actual pics of what the part is to actually be able to tell.

I have it installed in my car. 2010 GX 460. It doesn't work. Don't waste your money.

Thanks for the advice on it. I saw it running about $98 for the part and was seeing if it was worth it

Anyone still have the PDF for the installation? I am curious to see before I buy.

I was still wanting the same thing. I wanted to install myself since part is only $98 online. I haven't been able to find it anywhere online like all the ones for the other vehicles.

The install is the same from 2010-2018. I just purchased it for about $90 and was going to install it myself since it is only 2 wires and a control box but you have to remove most of the trim pieces on the passenger side including the knee airbag which I am not comfortable with, so I am going to have my dealer install it. I have attached the install doc. I had this installed on my previous 2 GX's at the port, I figure if it stops at least one break-in then it is worth it. I have had a previous car broken into and they broke the passenger glass, what a mess!! Not to mention that it cost me over $1000 to fix and replace the stolen items. The real kicker was that nothing was visible in the car, everything was hidden in the glove compartment or center console as I am very careful to hide everything.

Default Factory Alarm

I have never tried to set mine off. I didn't realize there is a separate Security Horn that also honks with the vehicle horns.

I didn't know there was a separate security horn either. I was inside a customers townhome after I installed my air horns and I managed to hit the panic button on the fob while it was in my pocket. I am thinking "damn, that horn is loud...oh wait that is me"

Default GBS works

I installed the GBS but it wouldn’t trigger by tapping the key on the window per the instructions (they recommend setting it on 6). Went back in and adjusted to max (it’s funny they chose 11 as the highest setting) and of course it was way too sensitive. I did it primarily to make sure it was working. I ended up turning it down to 8 or 9, I couldn’t really tell because I lazily left the module bracket fastened. I’ll update this if we get false alarms.

Thanks for info!

I just ordered one of these for my GX.

Ordered kit through matt@oemvehicleparts and shipped it was $107.46. I used his 50% off shipping CLUBLEXUS code

You’re welcome.

I should have mentioned that this is just a glass break sensor and will not trigger if something/someone bumps or taps the car.

Additionally our GX is a 2017 and we used part number: PT398-60111

Thanks! Looks like PN is same for all model years too.

I notice most parts sites don't show 2010 but it shows up on the Lexus parts site

Silly question, how do you know it doesn't work? With all due respect, did someone bust your window and the alarm didn't go off?
