Replacing Broken Turn Signal Housing
Hey all, quick question that I hope you can help with. I drive a good bit (40k/year) and debris is bound to happen. My right turn signal housing got cracked, and a rain storm I drove through forced some water in there which turned brown, not the best sight. The turn signal lamp still works fine. I want to replace the lens cover, and I bought the part for about 65 bucks. The dealer tells me they have to take apart the whole bumper assembly so replacing this will be over 300 bucks. I tend to call BS. Can anyone tell me if this is an easy enough DIY or do I need to let the dealer rake me over the coals for a lens cover?
Thank you all, in advance.

FYI: Removing the bumper cover is what they list in FSM for swapping that housing. Always a chance someone has found an easier way though.

I don't think I have seen anyone do a writeup on that one. Possibly on one of the other Toyota off-road forums.

Personally...I'd try to see if there was a way to change via removal of wheel-well splash molding.

My experience with removing the turn signal housings for sound dampening is you can bend the 3 longer tabs all you want but the light won't come out... those are there to help locate the shorter pieces which need pushed with a small screwdriver to release the light housing with some jiggling....discussed in the below thread...
