Almost twice as many '14+ on the road as '10-13' models . (51,234 versus 93,388)

Strong August/September sales

Does that mean my 2011 will be a future rare collectors item worth lots of .....Yeah, probably not :-)

Many complain about the Lexus Spindle grille but the numbers here tell the truth.
Any other thoughts for this drastic number change? I think I mentioned on a similar thread here that the informant system upgrade would not be the reason for the rise in sales. Also the rear reflectors are too big on the 10-13.

IMO... some of the darker downturn years of that financial chapter

I think pricing had a lot to do with it as well.

http://pressroom.lexus.com/releases/...60+pricing.htm

August 23, 2013
  • 2014 GX 460 priced at $49,085 — $4,710 less than the 2013 model year
  • Redesigned GX features the Lexus spindle grille, standard LED headlamps, DRLs and available LED foglamps, and new multi-media with eight-inch touch screen display audio and complimentary HD Radio Real-Time Traffic and Weather
  • New Premium Package includes Navigation, Park Assist, Three Zone Climate control and heated rear seats at the same price as the base 2013 GX 460.
  • The new Luxury grade includes Navigation, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and an Adaptable Air Suspension at a starting price of $60,715.

TORRANCE, Calif. (August 23, 2013) – The redesigned 2014 Lexus GX 460 luxury utility vehicle (LUV) will be offered in two grades when it arrives at dealerships beginning in September. The standard GX will carry a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $49,085, $4,710 or nearly nine percent less than the previous year; while the Luxury model which will be priced at $60,715. Ahh, yes the reduced cost would be a factor along with the updated look. Didn't the GX lag behind with the refresh compared to other Lexus models. I was thinking it was a year or two behind?

My non-car people friends and family all like the spindle grille, unlike my car friends who all hate it. My non-car people friends and family buy new cars while my car friends all buy used cars.

Remember too, the 2010 when it first came out had the dreadful 60 minutes story from Consumer Reports on traction control and rollovers. Caused the whole model year to have a reprogram campaign. That takes a hit on sales when parents and their children are the riders involved in a car buying decision.

For me, I waited for the 14' to be released and see in person before I ordered the one we have. I like the looks of the '14 over the previous models, plus the few changes inside made a difference for me to get the '14 over a '13.

Good point on the CR report.

I don't have a problem with spindle grille myself although it doesn't help the off-road approach angle... not that '10-'13 has an incredible angle as well but it is more forgiving in stock form for that application.

You would think September would be the time to buy with those abysmal sales figures, I bet the Stealers are screaming for sales!

Default Calendar year 2017 had highest GX 460 sales

2,042 more than 2016.... appears to be highest unit year since 2005 for the GX line

I saw quite a few new, dealer plate GX around my neighborhood lately, probably due to all the year-end discounts/rebates. It's interesting to see that the most sold months are summer and year end.

I've been seeing a higher than normal amount of new ones in my area too.
