Default Looking for 2014/2015 GX 460 Used

In market for a slightly used 2014/2015 GX 460. Hoping to purchase one below 30k-40k miles so have some of manufacture warranty still left. Preferred L/Certified although it's not a must have. Preferred White or Black exterior. Found two so far and would like to get some input...

Option #1 - Lexus dealer - 2014 Black/Sepia Premium package - 27k miles - Asking $40k before tax/fee. Certified before but dealer decided to 'pull that out' to lower its price. Is this typical?
Option #2 - Private sale (lease buy-out) - 2015 White/Sepia Premium package - 16k miles - Asking $43k. No fee but tax will be paid separately when filing for tag/title.

I'm in Atlanta, GA.
Not many Luxury Model available so I'm think I'm going to settle for Premium. Hoping to keep less than $43-44k OTD (if buy from dealer)

Thoughts?
For those that bought used certified GX 460 from a Lexus dealer, any regrets? Is it a must have?

I bought my 2014 Premium L/Certified with 38k miles 2 months ago for $43k and I'm pretty happy with it. I did try to get them to remove the certification to save a couple grand more and they wouldn't do it. It's a Toyota, so an extended warranty (which is really all the L/Certified is) is a waste of money IMO.

I was dealing with a trade-in that my local Lexus dealer offered me 5 grand more for than anyone else would, so buying elsewhere wasn't really an option for me. Otherwise I would have bought a non-certified GX with lower miles and just had the Lexus dealer inspect it and pull the service history for me.

rattmobbin - correct. Only part to certification that i'm looking forward to is the 2-extended warranty.i'm told it's same as bumper-to-bumper but curious if they will exclude some items. I'm not comfortable dropping $40k on 2014 model and only have 1-yr of manufacturer warranty coverage.

Granted not bumper-to-bumper but still quite a bit of powertrain warranty (6/70) left on a '14 with that low of mileage.

Lexus CPO is one of the best in the business. I bought a 2015 GX Premium just over a month ago, 18,000 miles for $43,000. I have a longer warranty than if I bought it new. Works for me.

So test drove both cars. They all drove fine. No huge difference.

Option #1 - Dealer installed a new set of tires. Dealer is firm at $40k w/o certification. May be able to get it certified at $500-700 additional which will give 3 yrs warranty (1-original and 2-additional) Tow package included. Overall clean car and it was a personal car.
Option #2 - Original tires with 17k miles on them. Asking price is $42k. 2 original manufacturer warranty remaining. Have aftermarket towing receiver installed. Remote start is included. Leased car. Car could use some detail cleaning.

I personally prefer White over Black. Interior is same color.

so here is my dilemma .... Option #2 is about $1500 more but car is 1-yr newer, preferred exterior color and lower mileage. It's not certified so total # of warranty is actually 1 yr less. Thoughts?

For $1500 more, you'd get 1-yr newer, lower mile, preferred color sound like a better deal to me. The warranty difference isn't much for that low mileage.

2015 is a lease early-end buy out car. Owner is basically wanting to cover his pay off but he doesn't want to use his cash to buy it out. Asking I need to lay then I get the title when it comes in. I'm told it can take 4-10 days. So basically I pay, bring car home but can't register for tag until title comes in. Not familiar with this. Any advice on how to handle? I'm also going to finance on my end so not sure if my bank will approve loan process without title in hand.

Your bank should be willing to handle the title transfer with the leasing company. If they won't find a new bank.

Pulled up all the service history on the Lexus Drivers.com and verified all recent maintenance done to option #2. Contacted mentioned Lexus dealer and verified they were done as well.
So just pulled up a carfax report to ensure it all matches and Carfax doesn't show any. It still shows car at its original 9 miles odometer. Then only other history shown is registration issued each year (in past 2 years). This seems strange. Is it common for Carfax to not include service/history even done at a local lexus dealer? Emailed both Carfax and Lexus Drivers for some additional info.

Not all dealers report service history to Carfax, I believe the Lexus dealer I go told me they don't.

Mainly what Carfax does is show registration history and if there's ever been any insurance work or damage history. I wouldn't rely on it for service records. And I also wouldn't just think a CarFax means a clean bill of health. Things slip through all the time.

The main thing I would be concerned about with on a car that new is that it doesn't have any history of being in an accident.

Assuming everything checks out, I would go for option #2.

Considering that Lexus Drivers.com shows all the service history and i was able to get that same dealer to confirm it, i think i'm ok. Just felt weird when i first pulled it up and saw nothing on it. What a waste of money on carfax report ($40 for a single vehicle).
All checks out as far as accident/structural damage/flood damage....etc so i guess that's worth $40.

Hoping to pull a trigger in next few days.
