Digital Speed Display
Hello ClubLexus,
Is there a way to have your current speed displayed on the dashboard in additional to the analog speedometer. It would be nice to have that in the middle of the dash.
Thanks,
Michael

I'm not aware of a way to so but if you want to you can get a wifi/bluetooth ODBII reader and plug it, then use a android device or iphone with an app (ODB Fusion or Torque) to display the speed along with bunch of other info as well.

RX350 F-Sports (but not regular ) can have the speedo display in nice large digital format.

I have ODB Fusion and it works great with wifi while I still able to use LTE for phone data. I prefer wifi over bluetooth because I sometimes want to stream music too.

I'd be willing to bet the car can be programmed to display speed on the LCD screen. The data is there and being read and stored because you can get your average speed to display.
In the BMW world we hack the car's programming to do all sorts of cool stuff, just doesn't seem to be much demand for it with the Lexus folks.

IMO: The days of hacking the cars for tweaks might be winding down though. Automakers have historically given root level access to end users. That was fine in days of non-connected vehicles... not so today with modern vehicles. I haven't heard of an air-gapped auto via audio or video though... a lot can be done with Techstream. Undoubtedly with enough time and collective effort one could probably find a way to display the speed but I think most who buy these vehicles just want them work reliably. Perhaps not as many spare parts or vehicles to be guinea pigs either.

Bmw let you access their Ecu you can gain 100+hp by just spending 600$ in N54 engines and do all kinds of mods through the software while Lexus don't let you do it. Used to be a member at bmw forums and it is a real busy place. I have a GS350 aswell and that is the most busy section at clublexus after IS section and it's nothing as compared to that.
