GX v LX Interior Space
I am the proud owner of a 2016 GX460 Luxury. My third GX. Lately though, when we load the whole family and all our gear to hit the road it seems too small. My suggestions to pack less have not gone over well.
So I'm exploring options. I'd love to stick with Lexus. So my question is, does the LX provide more interior room overall than the GX? Anyone else make this move? Or move from from LX to the GX? Why?
Thanks,
Joe

These are the new specs which seem to have gone into effect after 2013 that count volume above the window line I guess as all seats down in GX used to show rating over 90 cu ft.
GX
LX
Have you considered rooftop and/or rear cargo hauler options? Or something like the Stowaway2?

Also this ROLA model that is rated 250lbs.

Thanks for the specifications.
I've reviewed them all but they don't all make sense to me in that I don't know how to visualize the increase (or decrease) in space. Looking for some real world impressions. A visit to the dealership is in order but I just have not found time.
At this point I am really only interested in no compromise, interior solutions. We often have bikes hanging off the back. I have tried the storage on top but I just don't like the additional noise and reduction in MPG.
Infiniti QX80 looks like the obvious alternative, but I think the interior is terrible on the infiniti.

How many members in your family?
From specs above it appears that only substantial gain is with all rear seats down in back.
With the second row up you 5.7 cu ft less in the LX ....and only 3.9 cu ft more with 3rd row down in LX compared to GX.
From an interior room perspective you may need to look at QX 80. I don't have stats on hand... I know towing capacity is quite a bit more than even the LX. The limited trim in the QX 80 seems fairly nice...but I realize that is subjective as well.

The LX is definitely bigger inside and out than the GX.
We also looked at going from the GX to the LX as we wanted something slightly larger, but truthfully only about 1% of the time do we really need that extra cargo room. Also, the LX is incredibly expensive, you can almost buy 2 GX's for the price of one LX. The fuel economy is also about as bad as it gets. It just seemed like a huge amount of extra expense for that 1% of the time where we needed a little more room.
But if money is no object and you need the extra room, the LX is the way to go. It's also just a nicer vehicle with better quality everything.
If you need even more room, vehicles like the "long" version of the GMC Denali, Escalade, Suburban etc are even better in that regard, but you're not going to have Lexus quality. The QX80 is a decent compromise as well, I just felt the GX offered a better value and Infiniti quality has been really hit or miss.
