It looks to have a large heat sink on the back side. I recalll T4Fun buying something like this and he could not put the cap back on the housing...

Always a chance it will give a substantial improvement to DRL but would have concern that beam pattern and output of high beam would be substandard. If one never uses high beams might be worth the risk to try out.

Thanks. Forgot about that with 14+... I'd still wage money though that nothing will give anything but a subpar high beam experience

i've yet to see a halogen housing excel for output and beam pattern when a HID or LED was plopped in it.

Many put higher priority on the kelvin versus the lumen.

Have you seen this? The heat sink is flexible copper mesh that allows it to fit in the housing.

Tecman! You are a Legend!!!

I have not but I am excited at the potential of this working... in the meantime, I took my GX for service and they froze my navigation system during the update. They wanted to get me in an ES, so I told them "I prefer SUVs" and got me this nice RX.

I spent about an hour or so installed the dashcam. The longest part was figuring where to mount the camera. I moved it around from driver side to passenger side, high and low and finally decided on the location right beneath the windshield on the driver side.I ran the cable between the windshield and the roof liner, plenty of room there, along the A pillar, hide it inside the weather strip and down to the fuse box near the foot brake. I hooked it up to the Add-A-Fuse and hid the extra slack inside the opening right under the fuse box.

Some pics

Using 2 dashboard removal tool, I squeezed the wire inside the A pillar

This section the weather strip ran inside the dash so I ran the wire outside and down
The mini plug
Wire comes out the bottle ready to hook up to the fuse box
Final install location. It's hidden behind the rear mirror at driving position.
From outside. Hard to see.

bbqsoup, you ran the wire in front of the side curtain air bag? Yes it is left of it, but not sure I would be comfortable with that. Just wanted to bring it to your attention. I have no idea how the air bag deploys and prefer to not put obstructions anywhere in front of it. It is easy to remove the pillar (2 screws and pull it up and out) to run the wire on the back side of the air bag.

Just a FYI

I was watching some windshield replacement videos on GX 460 the other day... so getting an idea of where to tap into Homelink mirror with an Invisicord. That option works great in my other cars and so much easier to wire.

I didn't run it inside the
pillar cover but on the outside under the weather strip and all the way down. On the top I just squeezed it inside the gap where the roofline meets the pillar cover.

Thanks for the pic and warning. It's good to know.

Just to verify, I do not need "CANbus" for my Lexus right...? 2014 GX 460

Keep in mind I do have the driver assist package that turns the high beam off and on automatically depending on the incoming cars.
