I would check with the dealer about the error code. I haven't received the letter yet; however, my dealer informed me that the repair was under the extended warranty.

I'm probably gonna let mine stay stock for now since I am quite a bit aways from being out of this extended warranty. Should it fail after 2022 I will probably install one of the bypass methods that completely eliminates this part from the mix. WA state is phasing out emission tests by 2020.

Default 99,300 Miles

Got it this morning. Cleared it with the Carista app and it didn't come back later in the day when the truck cooled down and I could hear the pump running.

If you have to take in to dealer do you have the old parts you can put back on?

^^^ I have the filter but not the tip. I have a Japanese auto shop that I prefer and would like to get several things done at the same time while I rent something to put all of my work equipment in. I will call them and ask if they can do Lexus warranty work? I am sure the problem needs to be existing with codes to prove it .Will the codes come back soon on a stuck valve...? We shall see but yea, guessing so. I can clear them and figure out what to do this week.

Yeah... not sure if anything outside a Lexus dealer will be authorized but curious to hear nonetheless.

Why need for rental?... Is your MDX too small to put stuff in?

I thought I heard some shops advertising this in the past? I could be totally wrong on this though. Fixed my signature, LOL long past due. BTW, I had more room in the MDX

Those early 2000's Acura ATs are kinda scary though. Lots of potential failures from what I remember... in the TL anyway.

Called the shop and yes, warranty work must be done by the dealer. Maybe I heard something about recalls being allowed by authorizised shops. I asked about my external filter mod being an issue and was told "probably not". If I am denied, this could be a frustrating experience for me.
Codes came up again today, cleared and restarted the truck. I thought if the truck is warmed up I wouldn't get the codes again. It did come up and I have been in "limp mode" twice now. I don't hear the pump running but maybe system recognizes the valve is stuck open anyway.
Considering the $300+ bypass module to be done with this. DIY and no need to part with my GX.

I have a long 2hr. Drive tomorrow and will take this in consideration. The Carista app code clearing takes at least 8+ minutes.

Can you buy the cap and put it back to stock and take it in, about $12? it would take a couple of days to ship but safer than take it in without it.

I put back the stock foam filter and patiently wait for the christmas lights to pop on on the dashboard LOL haha...
Mine is 2010 with only 40K miles so only 2.5 years left on the warranty...sucks!

When I was looking into the filter and trying to find a part number I found that there are no separate parts sold for the pump. You have to buy the entire pump. Even if I had the tip I think I would go with the bypass anyway. I plan to keep this for over 200k miles and the odds of it coming up again are pretty good. Ordered the bypass today, $349 shipped with no taxes.

I wonder what's the percentage of GX out there that has this issue and if it's tied to certain VIN range or manufacturing date.
Please report back on the bypass.

The part number for the cap is 17621A.

It's available here

or here, click on the second Manifold AIr Injection Sytem

Ahh, thanks for the part number if anyone needs it. If anyone needs the filter PM me with an address to ship it to. Looking forward to just shutting the system down for good
