I find it funny when people do a double take with rear swing gate... everyone is so accustomed to hatch it seems to throw some people.

Fairly meager news... not sure of validity though...
Not about to correct the author on what it is based on :-)

"GX: Based on the 4Runner, Lexus' midsize body-on-frame SUV is getting long in the tooth, with its last refresh in 2014. It continues, however, to ride the trend toward light trucks. Perhaps only a shift in that trend will push Toyota/Lexus to update the model beyond updating some seat materials for 2018. Assuming a decadelong cycle for the chassis, look for a new GX in 2020 for the 2021 model year. Maybe."

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. I find it hilarious that with all the talks about GX being discontinued in 2018 or new features if there's a redesign. Yet, 2018 model is exact the same inside and out as other years. Hahah. with the exception of captain chairs as an option, not standard on luxury trim.

I think with so many crossovers on the market now, BOF like the GX are desirable and especially you can get one on the "cheap" compared to LX, Land Rover or MB G-Glass. I think Lexus will eventually redesign the GX, but more like the LX and G-Glass upgrade. Old underneath but modern amenities updates on the cabin which is enough for both vehicles in the class.
