Default 2011 Premium Rolling Back on Incline

Just noticed that if I take my foot off the brake pedal while on an incline, my truck rolls backwards. The slip icon buzzes and flashes as well.

Is is this normal? I rolled back a good 7 feet, before intervening and hitting the brakes.

Hmmmm. Doubt it. I've only had my '11 premium for a few months, and I really don't know much about these trucks yet, though I know my wife's '04 470 doesn't do that. I'm going out in my '11 in a few minutes. I'll try it.

Well, it did roll back where the incline was steeper when I stopped. It rolled very slowly, and then the ABS started complaining.

With a slight incline it didn't roll at all.

Looks like that's what they do.

Hill-start assist takes over when the brake pedal is not engaged by the driver.

Thanks for the replies, guys. My question remains, how far back does it roll until the system kicks in and stops the truck? Is it supposed to roll back slightly, then the system kicks in?

Mine seemed like it would keep rolling back indefinitely, it rolled backed about 7 feet and did not stop at all until I stepped on the brake.

I had to brake to stop mine or it wouldn't have stopped. The hill-start assist was chattering away, but it was having little effect on the truck's movement. Guess it's not very assertive.

Usually hill start systems are supposed to help you start without rolling back, not stop you from rolling back in general.

But then again I can't ever recall my GX rolling back like that unless I was in neutral (or reverse).

this happens to me when I lift off the brake pedal slowly on an incline. if I recall, if I lift off the brakes quickly, the vehicle will hold until i step on the accelerator. it's like if the VSC/Hill Start Assist is confuse what you are doing when i lift off too slowly.
