Grinding Noise on Hill
I have a sloped driveway. Three times now when I have stopped my new 2016 GX460 on it and tried to go forward again I get a grinding noise and the vehicle won't move. It will only go forward if I take my foot off the gas and then give it a gentle start again. The noise sounds like the ABS but I don't recall seeing the light come on. The car has only gone 1700 miles. I'm worried it may be the transmission. Any thoughts?

Not sure if I have been experiencing the same thing but this sounds similar to an "issue" I noticed on my new-to-me 2011 GX. Twice now I have gotten the grinding noise like the ABS when I have shifted from R to D and then let off the brake. It seems like in both cases when I let off the brake the truck rolls backwards slightly and then realizes it's in drive and then makes the grinding noise and the brake pedal vibrates like I'm skidding on ice. A light on the dash has flashed during this time but I can't recall which one.

After yesterday's post, I tried to make this happen again. I rolled the truck down to the steepest part of my driveway, applied the brake, put it in drive and gave it a bit of gas. The grinding noise occurred immediately, the ABS light came on and the truck stood still. I let up on the gas and then gently applied the accelerator. The truck went forward with no issue. There seems to be some issue with the ABS system. Note that this does not happen with our 2008 GX470.

Apparently this is an issue with the hill start assist. There's a lot more about it in the 1st gen forum. Again, this hasn't happened with our 2008 GX, but maybe it's shut off in ours. I can't check now because my wife has it out all day. Here's the link: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...s-engaged.html
