Low oil level warning
Hey all, my wife said she saw a low oil warning on the dash today while picking up our kid (‘22 460). She was parked at a slight angle but nothing crazy. I manually checked the oil level when she came home and it seemed fine. We have about 6k miles on our car. Could the oil level sensor have just been off because of the angle or could it be going bad? It was cold today, in the low 30s but I don’t think that would have affected it that much.
Thoughts?

My 2017 has two different oil related messages that can be displayed on multi-information display in the instrument cluster along with the master warning light (yellow hazard triangle light) and a buzzer noise.
One shows the typical oil can with the text “ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LOW”
The other just displays the text “ENGINE OIL LOW”
You can find them in Chapter 7-2 of the owners manual.
Do you know which it was or is it possible that it was a different red warning light that came on and she mistook it for a red oil pressure light like many other vehicles have but the GX does not?
If it was either of the actual oil quantity or pressure warnings you should get it checked out because I can’t think of any reasonable reason for them to come on.

I would get it checked out. That oil level sensor (added with 2014 models) is easy for dealer to test with a meter.

Engine Oil Low Msg On Hill
Anyone else get "Engine Oil Low" messages when parked on steep hills for prolonged periods of time? My brand new 23 GX sprung this message immediately upon coming home from the dealership and parking - but worth noting here that I have a VERY steep driveway at home. I've had multiple Toyotas/Audis/BMWs in the past that have never given me this message, so it took me by surprise. GX manual states this can happen on a very steep hill, but I decided to get it checked by the dealership and everything came back 100% healthy; they didn't even need to add any oil, which surprised me. Manual dipstick level checks also always pass the test.
Seems to only pop up when I come home, park on the driveway, and subsequently leave the house within a 1-2 hour time frame. When parked overnight, the "Engine Oil Low" message does not pop up. I'm chalking this behavior up to the steep slope + not giving the oil enough time to fully make its way down to the drip pan (hence why the msg does not appear when parked overnight); though not exactly sure how the sensors behave in these vehicles.
Wondering if others have had similar experiences? Kind of bummed that I'll have to deal with this message on a recurring basis due to my steep driveway.

if its really a bother to have the message, one thing you can do is what is done with some super exotics. theres an oil pressure build up system added. then you put in a circuit behind the start system button which is inline with the ign and the oil pressure system. the vehicle takes a second or three to start once you push the button but it will build pressure before it starts.
